Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Bottle. Sweet malt nose with some floral hop notes. Hints of figs, cinnamon, sour apples, some sourdough background. Beautiful cloudy orange with a frothy heavy white head. Leaves some huge lacing. Creamy palate, nice and smooth start to finish. Not too complex flavor, but still really nice. Well-balanced yeasty sourness with some subdued sweetness. Tinge of alcohol

12 oz bottle. Pours a beautifully murky honey colored body with a decent thick white head of micro-bubbles that leave leggy lacing. Fairly active carbonation. The aroma of sugar and caramel combined with a hint of dough keeps this abbey’s nose true to style. The taste starts dull for the first second, with only an earthy tone that explodes in to a bloom of floral and citrus flavor with a wonderfully malty and alcohol-laden finish that’s accompanied by a decent bubbly mouthfeel that isn’t to astringent to the palate.

750 ml bottle. Shiny gold body with abundant carbonation and a big, foamy white head. Aroma has sweet floral tones plus fresh bread and candy corn notes. Semi-sweet flavor with pleasant yeast characters, a nice rounded malt profile, and light bitterness. Very elegant and pleasing without any wrong notes.

330 ml bottle. Golden pour with very fluffy white head that lasted forever. Very malty aroma with ripe banana and bread. Flavor is matly as well. Lots of yummy yeasty flavor too. Nice pepper finish and touched of alcohol. Very good tripel.

Poured a cloudy yellow with a huuuge white, rocky yet smooth head. All the triple aromas are there (coriander, citrus). Alcohol on your throat going down. Comfort beer.

Had high expectations for this one. Golden pour like most Belgian ales. Aroma was fruity. I detected some strawberry and my buddy detected slight hints of green apple. Quite a bit of head but quickly diminishes. This is one of my favorites.

Poured from a 750ml bottle into a tulip glass, but not all at the same time. Light golden with a medium white head. Aroma was of spice, malt and a touch of banana. The taste started out with a touch of sweetness and malt with some spice and turned dry as it warmed. there was a noticeable alcohol bite. I have a bit of a sweet tooth and really like the other Gouden offerings for this reason. I was a bit disappointed in this and rate the ambrio, classic and Cuvee Van De Keizer among my favorites, but this one is lagging for me.
