Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Golden honey colored with a HUGE white dimpled head. Aroma is faintly sour with a sweet maltyness. Taste is rather mild, with no biting spice or cloying sweetness. Interesting grape skin flavor in the finish, and warms to apricot aroma and taste. An excellent tripel. $8/750ml

Draught at reBar. Hazy amber with a frothy white head. Pronounced yeast aroma, like half baked bread, with light fruity notes--banana, apple, pear, citrus. Off-sweet bready malt flavor with some mild yeasty notes. Fruity and well rounded. Subtle spices-not overpowering or too peppery. Medium to full body with a mostly smooth mouthfeel--fine light carbonation. Very enjoyable.

Cloudy yellow gold hue, with a rocky white head, leaving nice laces, yeasty fruity nose of citrus fruits, with pineapple, ripe apples, with a spicy coriander accent, with a grapefruit floral hops and a sweet honeyish pale malt aroma follows through on a medium-bodied palate with a yeasty, sweet candied lemon citrusy character, with flowery hop, releasing some grapefruit flavors, with a mellow honeyish warmth alcoholic mouthfeel, with coriander spiciness, ripe apples and pears fruitiness, and sweet pale malt, leading towards a faint dry hops bitterness, and an alcoholic warmth finih.

Clear golden color, moderate white foamy head. Sweet malty and yeasty aroma--presence of spices (clove, coriander), flowers, candy sugar, and perhaps a hint of pineapple and banana. Flavors are a nice balance of sweet malts, spices, and hops. The bitterness of this beer does not allow the sweetness to run rampant. This is a nice, well-balanced tripel. The mouthfeel is soft and a bit sticky, but is dried up nicely by the astringency of the hops. Certainly worth drinking again, and definitely lived up to my expectations. I haven’t yet had a "bad", (or even "average") Gouden Carolus beer. Can’t wait to have more of these...

750. Very hazy golden/light brown with a medium to large off white head. Aroma is malty and sweet with a touch of spices. Taste is sweet unattenuated caramel malt, covers up almost all the spice and yeast characteristics of this beer. I have no idea of what happened with this one, considering the other ratings. wow, what a dissapointment.

750ml bottle. Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow, with a thin quarter inch head that slowly fades away to nothing, leaving behind only small traces of lacing. Smell; very yeasty, with bananas and a little citrus. There’s also some nice bready malts with a touch of peppery spices. Taste; as with the aroma, the yeasts are right up front in the flavor of this one. The fruits are present with bananas and some citrus, with a little bit of peaches thrown in. Even with those fruits, they don’t become overwhelming, which I sometimes have a prolem with. Some candied sugar and bread dough malts come out in the finish. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, and seems to fit this beer very well, with a very nice drinkability
