StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Jan 5, 2007 2006 bottle shared by tpkenned. Hazed, buffed and pale yellow in color with a thick, tall and sudsy white head. Sweet, soapy lemon shine aroma is aided by shrocked lemon rind shavings, lemon-pistachio buttercream, coriander, vanilla beans and banana taffy. Sweet, creamy bananas meld with a lemon saltwater taffy character. Fluffy effervescence is well met by the dry, lemon buttered sourdough. Chewy sorghum and a sweetened papaya-banana smoothie characteristic eventually spinn into a dry, tropical and citric outtake. Full-bodied, followed by a sharp, dry cotton bitterness. Marigolds with a creamy nectar blanket envelops the palate with a vanilla mint creamy glossiness at the end. henry3r (586), Wichita, Kansas, USA Jan 3, 2007 The 11.2 ounce bottle poured a slightly hazy golden amber beverage with an ample frothy white head that was mostly lasting and left great lacing on the glass. The first aroma that hit me was bubble gum and then came a sweet fruitiness accompanied by pepper, coriander and honey ... very yummy. The body was medium with a very active carbonation level and a slight syrupy texture. The flavor starts out moderately sweet with honey, fruits and spices. This sweetness stays consistent through the long finish and is completed by a big alcohol warmth in the chest. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 3, 2007 Bottle. Orange/golden colour with an off-white head.Aroma is yeast, orange, fruit, spices. Flavour is yeast, fruit, sweet, apple, spices. yngwie (4880), Kristiansand, Norway Dec 31, 2006 Updated: Apr 10, 2009Bottle, 75cl corked. Two years past BB-date. It pours a slightly hazy, sparkling golden body with a gigantic creamy off-white head. Fine lacings left. Slightly cellary or corked on the nose, with pale malt, fruityness, some citrus hints and spices and a little piney note. Well hidden alcohol. Warming, effervescent and full-bodied. Slightly cellar-like flavor too, with citrusy, piney hops, some bitterness balancing the white sugar sweetness, and a herbal touch. Pale malts as well. Also something reminiscent of dried apricots. Lasting finish with good warmth and a fine bitterness. It’s probably better when fresh, but the two extra years of cellaring sure as hell didn’t ruin it. Rating: 7-4-8-4-16-3.9. (090410)
Bottled, 0.33. A cloudy, orange beer with lots of floaties, and a huge, dense, lasting off-white head. Nice, sweet nose with oranges and spices. Sweet flavor with orange-peel, both fresh and dried fruits and black tea. Fullbodied, quite gassy beer, almost sticky mouthfeel. The finish is long, with bitterness, warming alcohol and spices. I love Het Anker. (061130) asmithbeer (42), USA Dec 29, 2006 Cloudy orange pour with moderate head. Aroma is sweet with a bit of orange and citrus. Flavor is smooth and a bit fruity. Decent dry finish. Pretty good. roder60 (1019), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA Dec 29, 2006 Pours a very hazy dark yellow orange color with a medium amount of froathy white head. Aroma is very sweet and fruity, passion fruit, grapefruit, and banana. Flavor is very smooth and sweet, honey and banana and apple and orange. Finish is dry but still sweet and nectary. Overall, an alltime favorite. Wish i had more. BitchesBrew (710), Berkeley, California, USA Dec 25, 2006 [bottle] Light golden in color, with a foamy white head. Sweet fruity aroma, with a bit of alcohol present. Flavors are fruity, like peach and pear, with yeast and some sweetness towards the end. Finishes pretty dry, with some spice. Magjayran (1379), Durham, North Carolina, USA Dec 12, 2006 Pours a golden color with a medium sized white head. Interesting beer that has hints of honey, apple, and pineapple in the aroma and taste but finishes quite dry. Very fizzy on the tongue. Good stuff.
