ebarnes (213), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Feb 10, 2006 33cl bottle. Pours cloudy gold with an ample white head that lasts forever and laces right to the bottom of the glass. Spicy banana aroma with a little citrus thrown in for fun. The flavor is so sweet, you expect it to become annoying, but it doesn’t. It simply masks the alcohol. GG (1613), NorCal, California, USA Feb 6, 2006 Golden hazy beer with a phenomenal head. Nice and fluffy. Aroma was pretty complex with notes of spiciness, grassy hops, lemon grass, pineapple and bananna. I felt this was more akin to a saison due to how fruity and light it was, than to a triple. No noticeable alcohol made this one go down very nicely. MesandSim (5790), London, Greater London, England Feb 4, 2006 A Mes rate:
33cl bottle from Utobeer. A very fine tripel indeed and for my money one of the best. Malty and sweet aroma. Dark hazy golden body with a well formed head and attractive lacing. Lots of sweetness in the flavour but never too much. Slight aniseed notes with a touch of toffee and caramel and also something decidedly fruity. Maybe raspberry. Alcohol shows through in the spicy finish. A very fine brew overall. BeerBlockaid (538), Jacksonville, Florida, USA Jan 31, 2006 Hazilla gold pour with a dumpling of a head here. Lots of yummy yeast, fruits, and a bouqet or fresh flowers hits you in the face and taste. Some citrics and a salty aftertaste. Some post alchohol and a faint tip of hops. enjoyable loverly. bigrond (1043), factoryville, Pennsylvania, USA Jan 26, 2006 I’m not a fan of strong belguim’s but this is pretty good. hazy golden color - pleasant aroma and 9% - YEAH!!
good brew.
BobbyW3363 (154), Birmingham, Alabama, USA Jan 26, 2006 Hazy yellow with a medium white head. Yeasty, fruity aroma. Complex fruity flavor that is reminiscent of the other, darker Gouden Carolus ales. Some saltiness in the finish. Very good. blankboy (3165), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 23, 2006 Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow, tupalev, Dave B. and R. -- courtesy of me. Pours a very hazy bubbly yellow with an average size fizzy white head. Nice Lacing. Aroma of wheat, yeast, lemon, spices and sugar. Flavour follows the aroma but with some added hops and lingering alcohol, it’s nice and complex. Light bodied with a lively mouthfeel. I like the other Gouden Carolus beers I’ve had more but this is still a damn fine beer. cvillebeer (134), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA Jan 22, 2006 Slightly cloudy golden pour with an energetic and rising head. Overall and pleasing aroma of malt, spice and yeast- well blended. Full in the mouth, but not sweet to start, with spice and subtle hoppy bitters in the finish with a nice conclusion.
