tupalev (2605), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 22, 2006 Bottle shared with the crew, thanks blankboy. Yellow pour, medium white head. Yeast, lemon, bread aroma. medium mouthfeel. Lemon and yeast taste, slightly sweet as well. Ends with a maple syrup like sweetness. Very easy to drink and well made, it just didn’t blow my socks off like others from this brewery. Nice stuff. GregClow (2493), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jan 21, 2006 Updated: Jan 22, 2006Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, blankboy, tupalev, Dave B. & R. - courtesy of blankboy. Pale gold with a medium white head. Aroma is a slightly funky and herbal, with notes of band-aid and lemon. Body is soft. Flavour is a bit tart, with notes of wheat, yeast, spice and fruit. Very nice stuff. joss (3630), Garching b. München, Germany Jan 16, 2006 Bottle Perfumed, somewhat cloying, sweet fruit aroma. Cloudy yellow hue, tanned blanket head. Fruity (apples, peaches, tropical) and flowery base flavor, earthy potatolike aftertaste.
Light mouthfeel, slightly sparkly. JayBaxter (386), Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Jan 13, 2006 Cloudy amber with a big lasting creamy white head. The aroma is sweet and citrussy/toffee-ish, the flavour is sweet citrus and alcholic with a touch of spice but i like it. Kind of different to the other Tripels i’ve had but will deff try again. HogTownHarry (3922), Toronto (Harbourfront), Ontario, Canada Jan 10, 2006 Bottle (330ml). Poured murky deep orange with an average white creamy head. Aroma of yeast, sweet roast caramel malt, spices - a fruity, malty treat. Taste follows directly on, with alcohol and a little musty woodiness in the mix - sryupy, sharp and warming, moderately lively. Very nice, I like all the Gouden Carolus offerings I’ve tried immensely. ericmc83 (200), Arkansas, USA Jan 10, 2006 Aroma of honey, spice, alcohol, yeast, and fruit. Flavor is sweet, fruity with a medium body and soft palate. A bit of alcohol in there as well. Very well balanced and very tasty. No characteristic is too dominant, but the most dominant is fruit. Light chewy malt. Complex. skaughty (621), Marietta, Georgia, USA Jan 7, 2006 Pour is par for a tripel, with an aroma of wildflowers and a little alcohol. Reasonably lively on the palate with above average acidiity. A little vinous and sharp, but warm and toasty almost gives it proper balance. Finish is crisp. Less sweet and more wild than most of this type. beeriodic (61), Longmont, Colorado, USA Jan 4, 2006 Pours cloudy, straw yellow with a large, frothy head. Very earthy, woody nose. Spritzy on the tongue, with a generous bite of hops. Aftertaste is dry with just a hint of the alcohol, and lingering esters. Different, but good.
