Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Poured from the bottle this beer appears a light gold with a bubbly good head. Aroma is spicy with grassy hops and has a lemon grass, banana fruit accent. Peppery flavor with a larger bitter hop presence than a traditional Tripel. The bottle mentions "imperial ale"which is quite fitting. Has a "mellow balance" in the finish with a touch of sweet banana left on the tougue. Mostly dry but lively and fizzy moutfeel. An unusual but quite good Tripel.

pours a really light golden yellow color with a large, foamy lasting head and lots of sticking lacing. Aroma is grassy and hoppy and smells very Belgian. Flavor reminds me a little of dish soap and pepper. Slightly warming and bubbly on the palate.

This golden ale poured with a long-lasting fluffy white head. The flavor is more like a saison than like a classic Belgian Tripel - very fruity and light, with no noticeable alcohol taste and a dry finish.

2004 vintage (1.5 years in cellar). The aroma was very saison-like, surprisingly. Lots of hay/straw, with hints of perfume/ There was also a slight yeast and dough smell. The head was creamy, off-white, that mostly diminished. Body was a little hazy, amber, orange. Initial flavor moderately sweet with a tiiny bit of acidic flavor. Finish was lightly sweet/acidic, with a long finish. Seemed lighter than most Tripels, while the texture was dry an dlively. Not much of a finish. I was really surprised at the very saison like aroma, but since I love saisons, I didn’t really mind. Since I had one of these fresh, it seems that it has picked up a more earthy slant.

Bottled. Pale orange hazy colour, mediumsized creamy head. Fruitish, spicy and wheaty aroma. Flavour of caramel, spices, fruits and wheat. Sweet fruitish aftertaste.

Hazy gold colour with a massive, frothy head. Sweet, spicy evocative aroma. Taste of pear and melon, fresh and delightful, with a background citric orange sourness and a slight bitter finish. Outstanding.

Beverage Warehouse, Roswell, Ga - 750 ml corked bottle. Dark golden, slightly murky with a wispy thin, lacy head, looks like champagne. Clean, fresh aroma with hints of lemon, butterscotch and mown grass. interesting and slightly complex flavor. Pick up some fruitiness, akin to the flavor of pears. Some estery notes, a bit of butter and some white wine. Just the right amount of spritziness, does not feel like I am drinking champagne, my complaint about some tripels. Overall, very good.
