BierBauch (639), Cape Coral Waterfront Wonderland, Florida, USA Jul 12, 2005 750ml Corked Slightly hazed golden with a thick head. Spicy aroma, peppery, citrus, fruity and lightly vinous notes. Medium body with a soft mouthfeel and crisply effervescent. Spicy fruity flavors. Nice by the book Tripel. Lunkie (1020), Glen Iris, Australia Jul 5, 2005 Spiritus hop malt aroma. Murky yellow colour with very thick sudsy head and fantastic lacing. Strong sharp flavour with malt flowers and hops. Smooth palate. giarcsr (103), Carlsbad, California, USA Jul 3, 2005 pour is a light blond with a bit of pure white head. Aroma is at first a little disapointing, but after a few wiffs I thought that it actually wasn’t bad and in keeping with the style. There are hints of orange and other fruits in addition to the nice maltyness. Flavor is very good. It’s light and airy with a citrus component. Good beer, I’d drink it again. JMerritt (1313), Macomb, Illinois, USA Jul 1, 2005 Light orange in color, very cloudy, with a nice off-brown head that is mostly diminishing. Toffee, caramel, honey, and light grapefruit aroma. Flavor has a definite pepperiness to it, I kept getting hints of finely ground black pepper. Other than that, a nice light caramel, brown sugar backbone. Slightly alcoholic finish. Pretty nice. ABUSEDGOAT (1934), California, USA Jun 30, 2005 Pours a fairly thick orangish brown body with a small but nice head. The aroma is fruity with hints of raisins. Sweet lingering finish, but not as good as their other brews that I’ve had. ivan9856 (128), Arlington, Virginia, USA Jun 25, 2005 330ml bottle yields a cloudy, orange-amber colored ale with a large tan head and excellent lacing. Aroma is caramel, honey, orange and hint of alcohol. The initial palate is honey sweet, giving way to fruity esters of overripe banana, citrus and raisin. Effervescent and medium bodied and quite smooth, this ale has a long-lasting, moderately hopped finish with pleasing alcohol warmth and dryness. Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Jun 15, 2005 somewhat overpowering for a long lunch, it needed much food. Floral hops and honey yeast and orange aroma. ClarkVV (3578), Allston, Massachusetts, USA Jun 14, 2005 Updated: Jun 15, 20052005 bottle at the Mondial Ratebeer Tasting, 6/4/05. Honey-orange-amber. White head recedes quickly to ring. Lightly hazy, bottle conditioned, with small bubbles rising. Aroma is doughy white bread, starfruit, citrus (tangerines, oranges), peppery spices, and perfumey hops and alcohol phenols. Thick yeast presence as well. Flavor is perfumey as well, quite phenolic and has a rich, malty doughiness. Pepper and alcohol on the end, with a firm carbonation. Sweet candied peaches and orange rinds. Fluffy, malty mouthfeel. Perfume lingers with spicy hops. Quite the adventure. Very good young, should age well.
