unclemike (834), Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA Apr 4, 2009 Bottle. Nice soft banana bread, apple, and clove nose. Hazy light gold body with a thick attractive foamy head. Soft mouthfeel with a touch of alcohol and CO2. Notes of brown sugar, alcohol, floral notes, cinnamon, watered down whisky, warming going down, cotton, and a big herbal/phenol presence I can’t put my finger on. Very enjoyable, one of the better Triples that I have had Bontus (291), Waasmunster, Belgium Mar 30, 2009 Bottle, Hopduvel. Appears light golden with a creamy white head. Very balanced malts and hops usage. Aroma’s also evident of pear and banana esters. Spicy and alcohol warming with a smooth palate. Decent bitterness. A definition of the tripel style. walleye (876), Sterling Heights, Michigan, USA Mar 23, 2009 don’t know where I got this from. Huge, frothy, white, lasting head with a hazy golden, orange body. Pleasant aroma of flowers, herbs, toasted grain, pineapple, alcohol, lemon, coriander along with a slight mustiness. The flavor is moderately sweet and lightly to moderately bitter. It fnishes lightly to moderately sweet and moderately bitter. Dry, peppery, alcoholic. Medium to full body with a smooth, velvety texture. Lively carbonation. A little alcoholic and It’s tastes are slightly disjointed, but overall a very nice tripel. wkalle (110), Sweden Mar 14, 2009 Pours slightly hazy golden with thick white long lasting head with nice lacing. Yeasty spiciness in nose with green fruits and a faint vineous note. Flavor is spicy with some phenolics. Slightly sour maltiness. Finish is dry with a rather creamy palate. Pinball (2693), Allerød, Denmark Mar 13, 2009 75cl bottle, bbf 20-05-2011 L 0840, bought in superbest, allerød.
the cork was almost self-ejecting, it went off as if it was champaigne. no beer spilled out. clear ever so slightly cloudy yellow, huge white head that soon becomes fluffy and collapses partly.
very nice aroma balanced between citrus, spicy, and the sweetness of exotic fruits.
flavor is quite sweet, banana, spices, aftertaste is liqueurish, to-the-point flavor, but also perhaps a bit too conventional. alc. reasonably well hidden. flavor is well balanced and rounded and does not, as some tripel’s have any sharp edges to it. this is a plus. honey. somehow almost reminds me of mead. beer is better than my rating, but then - i can’t give it 8 for flavor or aroma - that would need a wow! effect that i didn’t find. if you like belgian this one is a must to have sampled. dEnk (8), Den Haag, Netherlands does not count Mar 10, 2009 Medium body, sturdy head, yeasty aroma with a hint of banana, sweet taste with a hint of pepper and lemon. IlanMan (816), Appleton, Wisconsin, USA Mar 9, 2009 Bottle. Pour was light with a frothy white head. Aroma of pepper, yeast, light malt, and alcohol. Flavor was quite acidic but pretty well blended. Light body with a nice, fresh, spice character. Good brew.
