Opened with a pop, small foam snake appeared soon afterwards. Needed 2 glasses it was so full of head. Hazy straw colour, when the glass-sized head had settled - there was no chance to minimise the yeast that came over. Sweet fruity aroma - apples and peaches - at first. Pleasant pale malts come over next, then a touch of flowery perfume. Very light and crisp. Unbelievably soft palate, the carbonation that created the head doesn’t fizz in the mouth at all. Loads of retronasal esters, almost bubble-gummy in places. Taste is full, sweet, and soft light malts. Hops are very restrained, quite clear but not imposing, altogether pretty well balanced. Finish is pale malts and slightly grassy noble hops. Covers the alcohol very well, there’s no hint of any kick to this at all. Stunning beer. larsniclas (3390), Gothenburg, Sweden

Aroma is yeasty, andfruity from grapes. Some bubbelgum. Flavor brings that fruity bubblegum-feeling and then turns into a quite bitter finish. Some nutty notes. Flavors of carmel, light fruitiness and a hint of spice with a sweet warming finish. blankboy (3250), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Pours a very hazy bubbly yellow with an average size fizzy white head. Nice Lacing. Aroma of wheat, yeast, lemon, spices and sugar. Flavour follows the aroma but with some added hops and lingering alcohol, it’s nice and complex. Light bodied with a lively mouthfeel. I like the other Gouden Carolus beers I’ve had more but this is still a damn fine beer.
