Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Hazy gold colour with a massive, frothy head. Sweet, spicy evocative aroma. Taste of pear and melon, fresh and delightful, with a background citric orange sourness and a slight bitter finish. Outstanding.

Decent triple by Brouwerij het Anker, though nothing special. Tasted like the Triple Toison d’Or, also from Het Anker.

(B.B. 11/05) Light brown, slightly yellow colored. Big white head. Interesting aroma: orange, pineapple, mild spices, alcohol, honey and sweetness, complex aroma. Medium to full bodied. Flavor is also rich: fruits, pineapple, spices, yeast, good hoppy tones, aftertaste has toffee, strong chocolate and medium alcohol.

Tap, at the brewery restaurant March 2004. Gold colour with good white head and good condition. Excellently spiced nose with corriander, curacao and grain all apparent. Sweet and spicy in the mouth with a slightly flowery perfumed note on a good solid base of malt. Long sweet and spicy finish. Seems more subdued in bottle, but on tap was superb. I don't normally like tripels but this one impressed.

Hazy gold with a big merangue head. Mellon aroma. Fizzy, sweet, slightly yeasty and a hint of chalk. Alcohol is well hidden. Delicate and nice but not my favorite.

On Tap @Toronado on 3/30/07. Pours straw with a thin white head. The aroma was sweet with candied sugar. The taste was also sweet but also slightly hoppy. Very good tripel.

Medium white head. Golden body. Full, deep, soft golden fruity sweetish aroma of milky honey, malts, toffee, spice, and hops. Incredible harmony and balance; almost perfect. Sharp, spicy milky honey taste with notes of tobacco and fruit. Dry, musty malty tobacco aftertaste. (0.33l bottle from Dorstvlegel, Antwerp. Probably not a perfect bottle. Want to rerate. And rerate. And rerate.)

in the bottle. This pours about as dark golden as possible. The white head had little staying power. The aroma is like a caramel toffee latte. You can smell the sweetness. Flavor is a substantial malty caramel taste which is remarkably smooth and drinkable for a 9% beer. Not filled with the complexities of many triples. The yeast cake in the bottom of my bottle was like a hockey puck.
