Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Really nice triple. Spicey, fruity - peachy, very light sourness, sweet and dry at the same time. not too thick - just right. Glowing yellow, good head and lacing.

Pours with a golden orange body topped by a thin head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet with a touch of candy sugar, a touch of skunkiness, a little hops and a touch of alcohol esters in the nose. Medium bodied, dry and smooth.

Pours a hazy amber golden type color, nice frothy head, decent retention, good lacing. The cork pop was loud, and shot across the room almost hitting my wife (yikes!). The aroma was honey, must, candied grapes. The flavor was candied apples and grapes, firm honey presence (almost mead like w/ some floral aspects), wheat notes. No hop presence in the finish for a triple, and the yeast was also noticeably absent. Mouthfeel was smooth, honey/mead-like. A nice twist to the style, very interesting, not an orthodox tripel.

Bottle: Poured a golden hazy beer with a huge head with perfect retention. Aroma is quite complex with a mix of yeast, hops, malts and something sweet like some orange. Taste is just incredible with a perfect mix between sweetness (this beer gotta have some candi sugar in it) and the hops. Alcohol is not noticeable at all, which is great when you have a 9% ABV beer. Overall, this is just wonderful, probably one the best discovery from my recent trip to Belgium.

Cloudy golden yellow with fluffy white head. Sweet honey and nectar aroma. Taste of honey and nectar with a good citrus backbone. Semi-dry alcohoic finish.

Bottle; poured a classic gold color with a large, nice looking head. Aroma was yeasty, spicy, with dough and fruit/apples. Pretty unimpressed with the flavor, based on the high average that this beer has. Not bad tasting, but was a missing something that would have brought the flavors together. Moderately sweet. Pronounced yeasty and doughy flavors; some fruit. Alcohol was noticable, but nothing too pronounced.

It was ok, too, but the flavor was too similiar to the "Keizer" one. BUt anyway, it did not stop to flow unitl it was half empty or so. THe flavo was ok.

Pretty strong. The alcohol is very conspicuous. It reminds me very much of the Bornem Triple. Maybe this is a touch more elegant.
