Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Cork reads 2/05. Pours hazy yellow / orange with a healthy white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy with white grape, plum, pepper, vanilla, earthiness and alcohol. Medium / full bodied with sharper than normal carbonation for the style. Taste is fruity with light spice - think earthy fell with banana hints. Finish has spiciness from hops, banana comes out more and there is an ABV kick. Overall a nice tripel, but the alcohol is not hidden as well as in many others.

Bottle: Poured a golden to hazy yellow, with a thick white head. The aroma is very citrus and spice. Taste is similar very citrus not sour but tangy to the taste buds. Not something I would drink normally, but a nice change of pace beer.

Bottle, split with after4ever. Pours a cloudy dark gold with a lacy white head. Aroma of fruit with sweet citrus hints. Creamy medium body, light carbonation. Sweet caramel apple and candy taste that dries out in time for the finish.

Rich malt, tropical fruit and yeast in the aroma, some floral sweetness and spice, also a tinge of alcohol. Medium golden color, particulate haze, and a large-bubbled, diminishing head. Malty and sweet up front, followed by a blend of light citrus fruit before a rush of spicy, herbal, and nicely bittering hops. Finish is lightly acidic, long and alcoholic, with a malty aftertaste featuring a few floral and honey notes. Smooth, vinous mouthfeel and generous body. Warming. As this neared room temperature it really awoke, so to speak. Very enjoyable Tripel.

One of my favorite tripels. I have had it many times on draft at the Sharp Edge in Pittsburgh and numerous times via the bottle at home. Sampled from an 11.2 oz brown bottle this beer pours a nice clear golden color with a large white head. The aroma is strong spiciness with a bit of fruit. A strong peppery spicy flavor with some sweetness and tartness added follows. Thick on the tongue. Mild spiciness lingers on the palate. A marvelous Triple and a world classic.

Bottle. Murky yellow in colour, tall lasting white head, nice lace. The aroma was soapy, floral, with lots of candy sweetness and yeast. The flavour was very floral, lots of yeast, noticeable alcohol, apples and peaches. Dry mouthfeel, medium body, medium/high carbonation. Finishes with a medium lingering bitterness. A young sample, perhaps this needs more time.
