Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Bottle. Nice soft banana bread, apple, and clove nose. Hazy light gold body with a thick attractive foamy head. Soft mouthfeel with a touch of alcohol and CO2. Notes of brown sugar, alcohol, floral notes, cinnamon, watered down whisky, warming going down, cotton, and a big herbal/phenol presence I can’t put my finger on. Very enjoyable, one of the better Triples that I have had.

Hazy copper with a beige head. Aroma is fruit and spice and malty. Sweet. Gently carbonated. The mouthfeel is medium bodied. The alcohol is evident but not overpowering. The taste is somewhat sweet and biting.

Very dark for a tripel, this is definitely an old bottle. Ruddy red-brown with a thin off white head. Notes of oxidation, fortified wine, and alcohol in the aroma. Taste is thin, more cardboard and oxidation, some spice, a light yeasty fruitiness.

Another winner from this brewery, albeit one that’s not quite at the level of the Grand Cru (or possibly even of the underrated Ambrio). It’s got all the qualities I look for in a tripel - rich flavor of sweet malt and tart fruit, slight heat - but is simply a bit too thin on the mouthfeel. That aside, it’s more than solid and I’ll return to it again.

Hazy bronze colour. Huge head. Fruity aroma with a touch of tobacco. Fruity flavour with a touch of liquorice. A bit too much alcohol in the finish.

Very nice triple with light yellowish head, a citrucy aroma and a full, fruity flavor. Light spiciness. It has a slightly bitter finish and hides the alcohol quite well.

Bottle, 33 cl. Hazy golden with white head. Sweet and tart aroma with candy, yeast, some spiciness. Interesting flavors. Fast, sweet, spicy, dry finish. Taste the strong alcohol.

Sampled from 750ml bottle. Hazy and golden hued. White head. Floral and caramel nose. Sticky and honeyish. Touch bready. Lively effervescence. Medium to full bodied. Dry palate. Floral yeasty flavors. Good bitter finish.
