I didn’t take any notes on this one, but it was very nice indeed. Solid tripel with alcohol well hidden. I kind of wish I would have taken notes. Very enjoyable. Doggythedog (1590), Split, Croatia
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 27, 2006 Poured a nice golden body on top of which perched a medium sized white head that went away fast. The nose is lovely... bubblegum, banana, really perfumey, malt, some coriander. The taste is again fruity, coriander, honey, oranges, apple, candy, yeast... Lovely. Definitely not a by the book triple... Damn I love this brewery. TheBeerOrg (1582), Kentucky, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 20, 2006 Pours golden with a wispy off-white head. Sparkling body. Aroma of sweet yeasty esters, notes of honey, apple, white wine, orange peel, and coriander. A bit too sweet with unusual esters on the nose. Taste is sweet and sticky, with esters, phenols, and high alcohols leading the way. Notes of cloves, spicy alcohol, bubble gum, ending with a long phenolic note. Mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly sticky with aggressive, lively carbonation. I knew I wasn’t going to love this beer as soon as I smelled it. Granted, it’s not bad by any means, but in my opinion, tripels are one of the hardest styles to flawlessly execute. Not bad, but not great. JonMoore (1561), Loughborough, Leicestershire, England
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 26, 2005 Bottle. Hazy golden colour with a big white head. Fruity, floral and yeasty aroma. Taste is sweet, fruity, malty, spicey with a light and long bitter finish. Fairly high carbonation, with a foamy-ish mouthfeel. This is very nice. jasonp (1510), Sterling/Dulles, Virginia, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 19, 2006 Pours somewhat of a cloudy golden orange with a medium white head which dissipates as it warms. Pear, white wine/white grapes in the nose; very fruity. Flavor has notes of sweet pale malt, apple, pear, spices, lemon, white wine, caramel and a little raisin. Pleasantly sweet, the hops establish enough of their presence to balance it out but most of the flavor comes from the malt and yeast. Medium bodied with a smooth texture and spritzy yet soft carbonation. Overall, quite enjoyable. Ethereal (1500), London, Greater London, England
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jun 1, 2008 Cask at the Rake with Reakt, 9th April 2008. This is a cracking tripel - it doesn’t do anything unexpected, it simply does the style very well. Cloudy orange colour, honey aroma and a perfect balance of honey, wheat and hops in the taste, accentuated by some fruit hints. The palate is perfect, the beer feeling soft on the tongue and the taste lingering for you to enjoy. MaiBockAddict (1499), Good Beer Bar Deprived, New Jersey, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | Apr 30, 2004 750 ML corked bottle. Pours nice deep yellow, almost yellow-orange, with floaties and clear. Big fluffy white head. Aroma of candi (cotton?) and dried fruit. Big and malty flavor of vanilla, alcohol, white raisins, and candi. This is my second favorite triple to the triple Karimeliet... beermatrix (1497), Twin Cities, Minnesota, USA
| 4.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Oct 2, 2006 Caged and corked 750 pours a solid golden yellow and stands in the glass with a mightly glow like that of lava. Huge dense cap of firm white foam floats ever so loftily to the height of about two inches with ease. Keeps about a half inch of it always sitting. Mega impressive. Light streams are noticeable along the glass edge within the golden glow of color. Lacing is delicately patched in moderate splotches. A looker of an ale.
Aroma is medium or so in tone with a grassy edged citrus of tangerine, pineapple, and dullish lemon. Little perks of peppery spice and bubble gum esters makes for some fun notings on the nose as it warms. Caramel becomes a bit more evident as well.
Taste is firm and solid with a wonderfully thick caramel loaded malt thats completely laced with all sorts of fun citrusy spices and yeast play. Mild, dullish flavors that last and last are what makes this quite spectacular. The caramel totally backs up this floral spiced citrus thats super dulled with a slimming after thickness in a plummy orange marmalade and lemon/pineapple jam. Sugary and darkly sweet and totally yummy. Nice little mixing yeasty spice and grab with a complexing feel and thick play and the palate.
So, along with that, this has the perfect body and feel for a Triple. At least the way I favor them. Thick, smooth, and fairly beefy with malt. Great lasting flavors and finish with a slender side to its spice and citrus thats quite sugary thick and playful just like the candy it simulates. The caramel is divine in this stuff. Lovely. Warm. Tasty and lengthy. The 9% is barely evident as it warms gradually throughout each sip adding to its sippable, yummifingly yummyness.
Drinkable to the point of easy going sipping with an intriguing pull for more after each one of those sips. A Solid F*ckin’ Tripel !
Side note: Served at 50 degrees F. and only got better as it warmed, around 56 - 58. Perfect.
