Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Feb. 2007 - Pour golden yellow with nice head and lacing. Delicious fruity aroma. Flavor was fruits, spices and a touch of caramel...even a touch of hops. Tons of action in this one. Scrumptious!

Blond beer with a medium creamy head. Very unusual aroma with a hint fruit. Not strong, just different. It is some spice I feel I should know. The taste is hop, spice and fruit. Slightly sweet start with a bitter finish. An interesting beer.

Small white head leaving nice lace. Dark golden colour. Sweet, citrus, grass and alcohol. Doesn't live up to it's darker brother.

Not Aged!
With the sediment in the glass, this Triple pours a murky golden brown, and a fluffy white head… thick and luscious!
The aroma is full with huge notes of caramel, cotton candy, even some butterscotch… very malty and full with brown sugar and plums.
Ok, so maybe I’m a little buzzed from that last 750 of Allagash Triple… but this so different! Far more toasty malt flavors, darker fruits, plums, apricots, raisins, even some stewed cabbage and corn-beef likeness… but I think it might just be the black pepper similarities that I’m equating here.
Sweet, with notes of rosemary and cove… very nice! It’s just so very different from the 24oz’s of the Allagash!?…there’s SO much more brown sugar, and molasses, and far less citric fruit!
The palate is so velvety – soft… it’s like drinking satin!
What more can I say… This is the BEST BREWER in the world… I’m serious… I’m in Love with every one of the 4 brews I’ve sampled! No doubt I’ll be cellaring a 4 pack of these 11.2oz bottles!

One of my favourite breweries and one of my favourite styles, so there may be a little bias in this rating. Happened to be a wonderful brew that seems to stand alone from this brewers big dark ales. Tasted from the bottle and poured into its own gold rimmed chalice, cool and not cold. A big dense and creamy white head formed atop a hazy orange-gold body. Head lasted the distance and left a web of lace down the glass. Intense, treacly sweet candi sugar nose with a strong balance of pears, apples and zesty oranges. Only a light amount of yeast and alcohol spice, peppery, was detectable and this came through long into drinking. In the mouth a blend of zesty fruity esters, prickly, medicinal and mellowing alcohol and yeast spice, and sweet candi and vanilla were amplified by the high carbonation that moved things along quickly. Light fresh herb flavours and leafy hops come in in the back and dry out with the alcohol to follow through to a long warming and reasonably smooth swallow. Light in body and filling in the stomach, this was a lovely beer, perfect for the winter, that came highly recommended by the boys at the Int’l beer shop, W. Leederville, and for that I thank them. Lovely!!! (33cL, BBE 01/07)

Orange pour very neat colour, head thin back to mild froth cover, very ample carbonation.Aroma, stonefruit, malt, citrus, clove, van sweetness throughout,a lovely mellow tasting triple, the 9% al vol is hidden by good flavours.Hints of coriander at the finish, bit of clove and ginger, like this range of ales.

Bottle opened with a loud pop and foam poured out of the neck of the bottle until half of the brew was gone. Disappointing to say the least. What was left was a light straw colored beer with a thick cloud-like head. Aroma is of biscuit, orange peel, and a bit of spice...flavor quite similar. Medium to light in body...wish I had more in my belly.
