Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

On tap at Three Floyds Brewpub, and served in a Gouden Carolus trappist glass. This tripel poured a bright, hazy orange color with a long lasting beige head. The aroma was made up of orange, apple, candy sugar, and some mild yeast esthers. The flavor was the same, but with some excellent spice notes showing up. Also, some lightly warming alcohol made it’s presence known. The mouthfeel was full-bodied and champagne-like. A truly exceptional beer.

Light fruit malt aroma. Cloudy golden color with a large white head. Light beginning with a tangy and sweet middle. The sweetness fades in the finish leaving a strong tangy aftertaste.

Hazy pale orange colour with huge white head. Clove and spicey mouthfeel which hides the alcohol. Very pleasant.

Pours a golden yellow color with big off white head. Aromas of bananas, yeast, malt. Flavor is fruity with hints of yeast and spice. Medium body with a creamy texture and lively carbonation. This is one of my favorite tripels. Excellent!

very nice tripel. straw gold colour, white bubbly head that left some dense lacing. a good bit hoppier than most tripels but still balanced. has some surprising wit like spice tastes. hides the 9% alcohol well.

bottle, pours light yellow, tall white head. Aroma is floral hop and corriander. Light malt, slightly sweet mixed with corriander and a nice bitter hop finish. Moderately carbonated with a light mouthfeel. This is a great tripel!

On tap @ Chez Moeder Lambic. Pours translucent dark gold with lacy white head. Aroma is faint, but I think honey, oranges and yeasty notes are there. Initial honey-caramel-burnt sugar sweetness is short-lived, then comes the star of the show: an awesome balance of that sweetness, a mildly hoppy bitterness, and the alcohol. The bitterness combines with dryness in the finish to coat the tongue. An excellent example of the style, which is too often poorly executed.
