Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Bottle. Malt aromas of caramel, hop notes of herbs, and beef broth for the yeast. In the background there was a smell that was somewhere between grape and raisin, with a strong note of ripe pear, and alcohol. The head was fizzy and quickly diminished. The color was a slightly hazy amber. Flavor started lightly sweet and finished the same sweetness and moderately acidic. Palate was light to medium, watery, with a fizzy carbonation. It finished lightly astringent. There was a stronger malt aroma than I expected, and so many more fruity notes were present after it warmed. The taste was just a little disappointing, but all in all this is a fine drinking triple.

Aroma is fresh bananas. Flavor has a hop bite with a sweet body. Like an evil ex :) Bitter finish with sweet notes. Definite Bazooka Bubblegum notes in this one.

27/10 0.33 l bottle at Hopdevil. Pours murky golden body with nice big head. Wonderful aroma of fruits with specific yeast. Flavor nice, quite sweet, not too complex though, but very full bodied. Alcohol is not really felt. May not be typical as it lacks that triple bitterness, but it’s still fantastic. Creamy texture on palate. Finish is very nice, sweet, pleasant and quite long. Another fantastic brew from this fantastic brewery.

Bottle. Nice soft banana bread, apple, and clove nose. Hazy light gold body with a thick attractive foamy head. Soft mouthfeel with a touch of alcohol and CO2. Notes of brown sugar, alcohol, floral notes, cinnamon, watered down whisky, warming going down, cotton, and a big herbal/phenol presence I can’t put my finger on. Very enjoyable, one of the better Triples that I have had

Poured from the bottle to a cloudy, dark orange color with thick, highly carbonated, off-white head and good lacing. Initial aroma was slightly sour fruit. As beer warmed, the scent of the 9% alcohol became more noticeable, but at no time overpowering. Likewise, the alcohol crept in nicely in the taste to help accent the fruit and hint of spices. Finish was smooth and long. I really enjoyed this beer.

[Bottle] Pours dark golden with a big white head. Aroma is really lemony with a hint of banana. Taste is yeasty, with a good deal of malt, and a bit of coriander. Medium-thick mouthfeel with a long finish that is slightly dry. The dominance of the lemon in the aroma didn’t really work for me, otherwise a fairly good beer.

Exquisite! Lots of esters, fine carbonation, fine tang on the tongue. Definite warming effect. Lightly tarnished brass color. Bananas and ripe exotic fruit in the now. Fine lace. Slightly dry in the finsih. Good burps. Had this one at Bodega Brew Pub, downtown La Crosse, Wis. USA

Bottle. Pour was light with a frothy white head. Aroma of pepper, yeast, light malt, and alcohol. Flavor was quite acidic but pretty well blended. Light body with a nice, fresh, spice character. Good brew.
