Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

750 Ml Bottle-Poured a hazy, golden/orange color w/a moderate foamy head. Classic Belgian aroma, sweet flavors of cane sugar, orange peel, colander, & bread dough. Very smooth & flavorful, easy drinking brew. Alcohol is well hidden. Long spicy finish. This one was a keeper, would age well, but it’s good now.

(bottle from AZ): Pours a very pale golden yellow color. Somewhat cloudy. Big foamy white head, big bubbles, mostly lasting. Floral sweet aroma, light. Light grapes, sugary. Some alcohol,a little hops. Soft floral taste, some rubbing alcohol. Warming up...less alcoholy, a little warming. Very light flavor.

(04.02.06) 330 mL brown bottle from Morel’s Restaurant and Café, Beijing, China. 9% ABV. ottled 4/04 and labeled as best consumed by 4/22/06. Poured clear amber with long-lasting large white head. Good lacing. Soft carbonation. Sweet malt and caramel in the nose. Medium bodied Belgium ale that starts dry with slight malt sweetness and pronounced tangy sour fruity flavor. Finished dry with malt aftertaste. Good drinkable strong Belgium ale with a pronounced sour note. Not for the meek.

Bottle. Sweet malt nose with some floral hop notes. Hints of figs, cinnamon, sour apples, some sourdough background. Beautiful cloudy orange with a frothy heavy white head. Leaves some huge lacing. Creamy palate, nice and smooth start to finish. Not too complex flavor, but still really nice. Well-balanced yeasty sourness with some subdued sweetness. Tinge of alcohol

Ah, yes, I will finish off tonight's Clemson beer fest (attendance = 1 [me]) with a Belgian Tripel. This one pours a nice golden color with a big white head. The head lingers for a while before finally dissipating into a thin layer on top of the beer. Strong aroma of fruits, most notably peaches, and yeasts, spices, and a touch of alcohol. Full body with lots of carbonation, the flavor is very fruity and yeasty with a strong alcohol presence. The finish is very sweet and spicy with a wonderful warmth from the alcohol. This is another magnificent brew from Belgium.

On tap at the Yardhouse in San Diego. Nice deep golden appearance with a light vanilla head on it. Very fruity aroma, thick with Belgian yeast and lots of banana, pear and strong alcohol in the aroma. Flavor reminds me somewhat of Gulden Draak, although lighter and fluffier. Sweet malty flavor with peppery spice and a good hops finish. Palate is quite carbonated, yet smoothed by the dry alcohol finish.

Pours a cloudy light orange with a thick and creamy head. No lacing, but the head does stick around for quite some time. Aroma is slightly sweet with some coriander and oragne. Taste is a nice blend of fruit and spiciness. Some banana and bready notes come through as well some cinnanmon and orange peel. Overall, it’s really pretty good. Maybe just a hint of alcohol on the back end, but far from distracting. A good tripel.

Sampled in Nancy, France: Came from the tap golden and with a very slight haze, and a white head, that laced nicely on the glass. Aroma was of spice, some banana esters, and alcohol. Flavor was the same, estery, with some spice and a hint of alcohol. medium and bubbley on the mouth feel. Excellent triple.
