Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Another great belgian triple. Smoother and creamier than some. Caramel sweetness balanced with mild yeastiness and sourness. Banana bread came to mind at one point. Hoppy enough to give it bite and little spiciness.

33cl. Bottle. Cloudy yellow/orange with some head and a little lacing. Slighty astringent spiciness that turns very sweet at the end. I think this bottle is a little off. I have had much better Coulden Carolus beers in the past. I wll just have to try this again.

Hazy yellow, white head. Apricot, peach nose with some hints of yeast. Fruity flavour, with belgian yeast most present. Some hints of vanilla. Slight spicy finish.

Just looking through some rates and I seem to disagree with most. This seems fairly heavy and I can taste the aclohol. Liqourice possibly, I don’t like that. All that said, I’m enjoying it. Sharp flavours that if I knew more about beer I could tell you. Try one, very nice. Re-rate hmmm much better now. Love it.

Cloudy golden in appearance with a sweet Belgiany aroma. Flavor is of spice and licorice. You can sense the alcohol, but you can't taste it or smell it as you'd expect at 9% ABV. I'm definitely a novice when it comes to Belgian beers but I do like this one - it's worth it's fairly high rating.

33cl bottle. Pours a hazy gold with highlights of tan and dirty yellow. The head pours up white in color and medium in size. Small spots of lace are left on the glass but not much. The aroma is richly perfumey with resiny, oily, spicy aromatics and some notes of sweet fruit and cakey malts. The fruity aromas are hard to place - tropical, perhaps some citrus, fruity liqueur (thanks to the hint of ethanol in the aroma), and made more interesting with a touch of exotic spice. The flavor is complex, just like the nose. There is a strong fruitiness at the tip of the tongue - melons, papaya, mango, pineapple, and citrus. As the beer travels slightly back - squarely between tip of tongue and mid-palate - spices emerge along with tartness and a touch of sharp alcohol flavors. At mid-palate, there is an earthy bitterness combined with bitterness from the alcohol which balance sweet malts, tropical fruit esters, and a light peppery spice. A bready malt flavor also becomes apparent, including a strong taste of wheat. The finish is crisp and long, fairly dry, and alcoholic. The mouthfeel is crisp and rich - both well carbonated and oily and somewhat thick. As the beer warms the flavor of ethanol strengthens, giving the finish a boozy character. Overall, a wonderfully complex Belgian Tripel.

Excellent belgian. Pours a mirky blonde, with a good head. Aroma is yeasty and fruity. Flavor is apricots, bready yeast, and a nice tart sweetness, very refined.

Found a bottle of this recently for cheap. Poured a very hazy orange color, almost like unfiltered apple juice. Aroma is very strong of raw banana and some sweet hops. Flavor is very complex. Starts off very sweet of pear and moves into a slightly spicy clove flavor. Ends with a very smooth hops bitterness and leaves an almost Hallertauer hops flavor at the end. Very fine carbonation and not a lot of alcohol taste for a 9% beer. One weird aspect of this beer is that it makes your taste buds feel as if baby orajel was rubbed on them. Tongue is not numb, only your taste buds. But this feel eventually subsides. Another aspect of this beer is the fact that the banana and clove flavor don’t determine its flavor. Very well rounded, smooth and surprisingly heavy beer. Great beer!
