Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Attractive golden color with a nice fluffy off white head that is nicely retained. Aroma is wonderful. Figs, candy sugar and spices meld in a delicous melody of scents. Flavor is complex. Initial flavor is kinda harsh hairspray, then everything settles out and the finish is deliciously spicy. Very nice mouth feel. Very good Abbey Tripel.

Pours into the chalice a hazy golden-orange color. Produces a beautiful thick, dense pillow-like head with superb retention. An intricate lacing pattern of foam adheres to the sides of the glass. The nose is a bit muted, but with pleasant fruity notes of pineapple, banana, vanilla wafer cookies and honey in the forefront. A faint touch of yeast, light malts, spice and perfume linger in the background. Mouthfeel is perfectly balanced between the velvety smooth and creamy texture of a big beer and the expected tingle of CO2 from a Belgian Ale. Flavor profile a bit more assertive than the aroma. Starts out with a fruity, malty sweetness; very much like the nose. Then gradually moves into a slight peppery, spicy alcohol presentation and finally finishes with a somewhat surprising, but slightly astringent moderately bitter hoppy finish. All in all a solid Triple save for the slightly distracting finish. I’d definitely go back for more.

Cloudy dark yellow color with a huge small bubbled head that takes forever to settle. Spicy aroma with light fruits (apple). Full bodied and a bit fizzy on the tongue. Ends lightly sweet with an oak wood flavor. Long mellow ending.

Bottled at the Danish Beerfestival 2003: A creamy and smooth triple. Nice laceworks. Lots of fruit and yeast. Very drinkable despite of the high ABV

Fresh lemon and orange aroma. Dark golden color, white head, good lace. Very citrus, sweet, alcohol well hidden, starts off with lemon flavors and turn orange. Long hoppy, little dry finish.

On Tap in Paris. Citrus and fine bread aroma. Hazy golden appearance, white head, lace and more lace. Flavours of orange, pomegranate, grapefruit and pears. Very light bodied, good tongue tingle. Wonderful, and in a 1 Litre Glass!

I like this brewery, and this is a nice triple. Malty, as is characteristic of Het Anker's brews. Beautiful deep golden color, and the head is just the right size, hence the 5 for appearance. Soft mouthfeel, and the alcohol is well integrated into the overall flavor. A class act.
