Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

The beer as it sets in the “Triple” glass is a ambiguous golden orange color, the head is portly in size, the color and off white, and the texture spumous, as the head decays, it leaves behind a fine covering of lace to seal off the glass. The nose is loaded with malt aromas, slightly plummish, crisp and fresh, the start is malt laden and lightly sweet. The top is middling in feel, the acidity biting, and the hops purposeful in their spicy bite, also vinous, tart and the aftertaste quite dry and long lasting.

On tap, from old notes. Pours a hazy deep gold with fluffy white foam, decent retention and lacing. Aroma is fairly heavy on banana like yeast notes with some candy-ish sugar notes and hints of coriander and Saaz hops. Flavor is fairly sweet, good bit of banana, lots of coriander, very nice hoppiness in the finish. A very complex, if not a little too sweet, Tripel

Poured from bottle 4/2008. Lemon cake aroma - nice. Big head, cloudy gold color. Great combo of flavors - bread, citrus, spice , pepper, banana. Hop and wood in the aftertaste. Great finish. Terrific.

Huge head at pouring. Lasted a LONG time in the glass. Nice golden color. Yeasty/wheaty flavor. Slight alcohol aftertaste. Cloudy consistancy.

Cork reads 2/05. Pours hazy yellow / orange with a healthy white head. Aroma is fruity and spicy with white grape, plum, pepper, vanilla, earthiness and alcohol. Medium / full bodied with sharper than normal carbonation for the style. Taste is fruity with light spice - think earthy fell with banana hints. Finish has spiciness from hops, banana comes out more and there is an ABV kick. Overall a nice tripel, but the alcohol is not hidden as well as in many others.

Pours a lightly hazy bronze with a frothy and thinly-lacing white head. Aroma has a touch of vanilla and licorice with some bready Belgian yeast and a hint of light fruit. Starts with nice caramel malty sweetness, some yeasty esters, and a touch of peppery spice toward a dry bready finish. Hides the alcohol quite well. A nice tripel.

Really nice triple. Spicey, fruity - peachy, very light sourness, sweet and dry at the same time. not too thick - just right. Glowing yellow, good head and lacing.
