Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

2004 vintage (1.5 years in cellar). The aroma was very saison-like, surprisingly. Lots of hay/straw, with hints of perfume/ There was also a slight yeast and dough smell. The head was creamy, off-white, that mostly diminished. Body was a little hazy, amber, orange. Initial flavor moderately sweet with a tiiny bit of acidic flavor. Finish was lightly sweet/acidic, with a long finish. Seemed lighter than most Tripels, while the texture was dry an dlively. Not much of a finish. I was really surprised at the very saison like aroma, but since I love saisons, I didn’t really mind. Since I had one of these fresh, it seems that it has picked up a more earthy slant.

Draft at the Birerria, Washington, D.C. Poured golden with a firm white head. Yeasty aroma and a spicy, yeasty flavor with lots of alcohol notes in the finish. A truly great Tripel!

From a 33cl bottle. pours a hazy gold with a 1/4 inch snow white head. Persistent head and persistent lacing. Smell is fruity and yeasty. Hints of sweetness and spice. Taste is much like the smell, spicy and sweet. Light hint of cinnamon apples. Sour and peppery as it finishes. Really smooth and oddly creamy (for a tripel) Really one of the nicest textures I’ve had in a tripel. This one does not reveal it’s strength in the body, though very flavorful. Watch out, it’ll sneak up on you.

do any of the beers on tap at Eulogy Belgian Tavern in Philly disappoint? apparently not. beautiful murky blood-orange egg-yoke body with a tiny white fizz rim head. smells of grass and citrus. tastes slightly bitter, light-citrus hops. becomes more bitter toward the end. hints of grapefruit. very tasty.

This one pours an appetizing golden yellow with a very thick, fine-bubbled, persistent head. Aroma is rather strong, fruity, yeasty and malty. Flavor is rich and mouth-filling, fruity and malty with a yeasty undertone. Texture is delightfully fizzy and tingly, smooth underneath. Worth finding.

0.75l - Gold color with epic head even in a wetted glass. Yeast on the nose, spicy palate with a mildly sour finish. Classic Belgium. What’s not to love?

THOUGHTS: Hid alcohol incredibly well. One of the nicest tripels I ever had. I always avoided this because I figured it would be boring compared to their other beers, but they seem to do everything well. TECHNICAL: Bottle Poured a slightly hazy, medium golden with an average to large, foamy, white head that slowly diminished and kept a thick sheet leaving excellent lacing in thick sheets on the side of the glass. The aroma was moderate malt, moderate yeast along with fruit, spices and flowers. The initial flavor was sweet and acidic; while the flavor was bitter and slightly sour with a long duration. There was candy sugar, yeast, fruit, flowers, spices and a lot more that I couldn’t even begin to describe. The medium to full body was dry with very fizzy carbonation and a dry and light astringent finish.
