Commercial Description:
In spite of modern brewing technology, this beer is brewed according to ancient traditions. It unites, now as in the past, the best products of our soil: rich barley and fine hops.. It's refined character, with a pure and rich taste, will captivate you. It is matured at length in cellar and bottle, and is guaranteed to be brewed only from pale malts. It is traditionally top-fermented and is 100% pure. The Gouden Carolus Triple has a unique colour and a full flavour due to its well-balanced hopping. To properly savour the Golden Carolus “Triple”, pour slowly in one movement leaving the yeast deposit in the bottle. This beer may be served cool but not chilled: 7-8°C is recommended. In 2002 this beer won the Gold Award in the World Beer Cup, San Diego, USA in the “Triple” category.

Bottle. Hazy golden colour in the galss with a huge pearly ehite head. Heavy spicy aroma of coriander, citrus and tropical fruits. In mouth a pearly texture with large carbonation. Taste of spices, fresh fruit, and alcohol.

Pous a lightly cloudy gold color, with a medium frothy white head. smells of Belgian candy sugar, sticky sweet fruits, and some yeast. Nice sharp smell. The flavor was much the same, with all the standard flavors of a tripel. Not overly sweet, with a definite good dosage of alcohol which was noticeable throughout. The fruits seem to keep the sweetness at bay for the most part. Not my favorite style, but this is well crafted.

[bottle] Light golden in color, with a foamy white head. Sweet fruity aroma, with a bit of alcohol present. Flavors are fruity, like peach and pear, with yeast and some sweetness towards the end. Finishes pretty dry, with some spice.

A Mes rate: 33cl bottle from Utobeer. A very fine tripel indeed and for my money one of the best. Malty and sweet aroma. Dark hazy golden body with a well formed head and attractive lacing. Lots of sweetness in the flavour but never too much. Slight aniseed notes with a touch of toffee and caramel and also something decidedly fruity. Maybe raspberry. Alcohol shows through in the spicy finish. A very fine brew overall.

(750 ml bottle from 1828 Vintage House, cellared for 10 mos. after purchase) Pours hazy gold-amber with two fingers of off-white head. Aroma of light caramel and fruit, perhaps some spice. Mouthfeel is smooth, fairly soft, medium-full and somewhat sticky. Light, droopy, broken rings of lacing. Flavor of light caramel and fruit with some pepper towards finish. Starts out quite sweet but then turns almost sweet and sour as it warms. Slightly hot with a light bitter pinch in finish. Decent tripel but not my favorite Gouden Carolus so far.

Sampled from 750ml bottle. Hazy and golden hued. White head. Floral and caramel nose. Sticky and honeyish. Touch bready. Lively effervescence. Medium to full bodied. Dry palate. Floral yeasty flavors. Good bitter finish.
