Commercial Description:
Editor’s note: 200 bottles of 75 cl produced.

English: We brewed this beer in August 2007 with a lot of dark malts and molasses, fermenting it with lager yeast for over 3 months. While we were waiting we took a bourbon barrel aside and filled it with the beer straight from the fermenter. We put the barrel in a dark corner and left it until now.

Chris O’s Bottle. Dark brown balck in colour with very little head. Strong brandy, congiac nose with dark malts and fruit. Taste is similar with toffee apple, walnut and figs and dates. A smooth clean taste with a pleasant warming alcohol burn. I would like more sour character

[bottle at EBF 2008] Heavenly aroma: gentle vanilla-whiskey with some raisins, tons of dried fruit, and chocolate notes. Inky brown-black with no foam. Velvety chocolate-strawberry flavour with notes of walnut and bourbon-oak. Very low bitterness that comes mostly from nutty black malt. Smooth and warming with an almost clean, nutty finish, very low carbonation.

Bottle shared by toncatcher at fordest’s tasting (thanks). Poured an opaque black color with a small tan head. The aroma was chocolate, whiskey and dark fruits. The flavor pretty much followed the nose, a fair whiskey taste, with molasses, dates, coffee and oak.The mouthfeel was smooth and creamy. The finish was long and dry. Overall: A very tasty porter, I’m surprised that its not listed as an Imperial porter. Recommended if you can get it.

Bottle 75cl. @ chris_o’s Pre-GBBF Shindig 2008.
Clear medium black color with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly diminishing, beige head. Aroma is moderate to light heavy malty, caramel, chocolate, wood, vanilla, alcohol. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long to average duration. Body is medium to full, texture is creamy, carbonation is soft, finish feel is light alcoholic. (020808)

Black beer with small head, EBF, Copenhagen. Sweet and full bodied, I would rather call this a barley wine than a Baltic Porter. But it was nice, but I doubt I would want large quantities.

Bottle @ EBF, 2008, Carlsberg.
Pours black with a small, creamy, film head. Aroma has oak, well roasted and light chocolate. Low carbonation, good creaminess. Flavour has vanilla, bourbon, chocolate, cocoa, coffee. Great balance with a clear warming finish. This is one of the rare times, barrel aging really improves a beer, as the original seemed too harsh and sharp - this is much more mellow.
