Was so impressed I didn’t make much notes :-) It’s a blow-you-away beer for sure. Very much bourbon and strong licorice. In my opinion maybe just a little bit too sweet or too less bitter. Sweet chocolate and sherry aroma with hoppy toffee notes. Balanced and harmonic. Sweet intensely malty chocolate taste with coffee and raisin notes. Mouthfeel is soft and rounded with noticeable alcohol heat. Hoppy malty raisins aftertaste. Excellent! (0.1l taster glass from bottle at EBF ’08. They opened it at 1900, and by luck I happened to ask for it at 1904. Got the last bit from the bottle.) charlotte (2029), Vanløse, Denmark

Bottle. [Papsoe grand American tasting] Small fizzy beige head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Black color. Aroma of sweet chocolate, wood, coffee, vanilla. Over the palate came heavy sour notes of vinegar, barnyard, dried sour fruity feel. In the back came sweet chocolate, sweet roasted malt and sweet liquorish. Medium bodied with an average carbonation and light alcoholic dry texture. Moderated sour sweet and bitter flavor in a well balance way. Lingering wood, chocolate, dried fruit and sour notes in the finish. 8 / 3 / 9 / 4 / 17 = 4.1
-------& @ Copenhagen, September 2008] Small foamy beige head that mostly diminished. Spare display of lacework. Pitch black color. Lovely sweet liquorish, wood, vanilla, Bourbon, chocolate, roasted malt, hint of coffee. Quite complex and very smooth over the palate, never felt the 11%. Full bodied with a soft carbonation and mild wood dry texture. Heavy sweet flavor with good counter bitterness. Lingering wood / vanilla / liquorish sweet finish. Man this one rocks!; uhre (339), Denmark
