smell is sour, some cocoa, and a little bit of nuts.
taste is thin, sour malt, and a little cocoa, ends sour and a little bitter.

Aug 3, 2009 A gusher - like pouring coke over ice cubes.
Dark beer. Bittersweet chocolate, cocoa lingering in the finish. A little espresso as well. Some over ripe fruit, plums, a little yeast, a hint of alcohol. Would probably be better after spending some time in the cellar.

Jun 16, 2009 Bottle sampled on 12/27/07: Pours a barely transparent dark mahogany with a stringy-lacing light tan head. RIch cocoa powder and dark chocolate nose has a touch of carob and clove spice. Body starts a little thinner and effervescent with some mild dark chocolate and cocoa nibs flavor toward a drier richer bittersweet dark chocolate finish. A very interesting and fairly complex brew.

May 19, 2009 Bitter chocolate, chestnut and an off flavor present in the smell. Urinal cake, like another review mentioned? Fair enough description of the off smell.
Semi-astringent chocolate in the taste. The use of cacao and carob probably serve to give it that character, along with a chestnut-like nuttiness.
A rather unique beer, but unique in a bad way. The flavors don’t fully meld, the body is a tad thin and astringent, and the smell is just bad. Not recommended, especially for the price you will have to pay.

May 3, 2009 Bottle. Pours a dark brown color with a small tan head. Has a slightly fruity malty chocolate aroma with some hints of vanilla. Sweetish malty fruity chocolate flavor. Has a warming fruity chocolate finish with some hints of vanilla in the aftertaste.

Apr 21, 2009 Large bottle shared. Poured a murky brown with a huge light brown head. Aroma of funk, fruit, cocoa. Taste is a little more cocoa, with some tart funky fruit notes in the finish. Very interesting. As the bottle warmed, more chocolate was coming through. An interesting brew that isn’t my favorite, but isn’t bad either.

Mar 13, 2009 Pours a muddy dark brown with a tan head. Smells sort of like a malted chocolate milkshake. Malty chocolaty taste with notes of vanilla and a weird herbal quality. An odd brew.
