To bad its not still in the Twin Cities. They need more advertising. I think if they did more of that, then it would be a knowen beer around the U.S Mrthirstyneck (341), Minnesota, USA

| 2.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Bottle. Pours clear light yellow with a spare fizzy white head, mostly diminishing, spare lacing. Aroma is averge malt (grain, cereal, meal), light hops (grass), average yeast (sweat) with notes of cooked cabbage and corn. Light bodied, thin texture, flat carbonation and a chalky finish. Short duration, light sweetness, acidity and bitterness. detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Jan 13, 2007 Pours a very clear and pale yellow color, with a thick head of soft white foam. Absolutely zero lacing. Nothing interesting in the aroma.
I taste a lightly bready yeasty flavor up front that would be quite tasty if more prominent. The malt is slightly sweet with a bit of vegetal corn. Light spicy hops and a bite from the carbonation at the end are interesting.
Light body, mild and unoffensive. Fairly smooth. I have it shipped here (in multi-caseload increments) to San Diego from John’s Grocery in Iowa City. (Note that John’s carries approximately 1900 beers, including many Belgian brews.) Yes, it’s light in color and body - but it sure goes down easy. Of course it’s not "all malt" - I happen to like the flavor of corn adjuncts. If you dislike the entire pale lager category, than none of this will matter to you. However, GBP is far superior to Bud and Miller and even superior to Coors ("Original") which is my second favorite of its type. I enjoy many types of beer, but think that Grain Belt Premium is a helluva lot better than hundreds of dark, chewy, filling brews which are revered by many beer "experts" but taste shitty and ruin any food they accompany. icefisherman (2), Rochester, Minnesota, USA does not count | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 6, 2006 easily found here in mn i mean this is every place to be honest it looks like a light yellow/golden fizzy beer and it smells like a sweet version or what it looks like taste is also a little on the sweet side but its ok over all not the best but darn good GaltScat (195), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Grain Belt Premium is a beer that is good to drink casually; while mowing the lawn or goofing off at the beach. Perhaps a little too carbonated with a slight watery taste. It is crisp, refreshing, and subtle. islay (476), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | Nov 24, 2006 Updated: Dec 19, 2006Bottle. Subdued, fruity aroma, not like that from a typical American macro brew. Cloudy, hazy, very pale gold in appearance with small black suspended specks, which was a bit disturbing because I expected the liquid to be clear. The flavor is fruity and slightly grassy, but with a noticeable hop bitterness in the foretaste. Similar in taste to a Dortmunder. Light body. Leaves a slightly unpleasant bitter taste in the mouth, but still drinkable. Overall, I don’t have much to say about this beer. It’s not awful for what it is, but it’s definitely not good. Still, I’d take it over a Budweiser or an MGD any day, and, let’s face it, at a lot of Minnesota dive bars those are the real alternatives. I should note that the bottle I tested has been in the back of my fridge probably for a year at least, so it’s not necessarily the best example. I’ll try to update my rating the next time I try it, probably on tap, and I wouldn’t be surprised if I raise it a couple tenths of a point on the re-rate.
<P>Re-rate 11/26/2006: I tried another bottle of this at a party last night. I am now convinced that, probably due to age, the example that I originally rated was a bad one and not fairly representative of the beer. The sample I had last night did not have the appearance problems that the original sample I rated did, so I raised the appearance from a 1 to a 2. Also, it lacked the unpleasant aftertaste, so I raised the palate from a 2 to a 3. Because of the absence of the nastiness in the latter sample, I raised my overall impression from a 5 to an 8. Thus, my total score increases from a 1.8 to a 2.3.
