ebrowner88 (113), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Feb 24, 2008 Probably the best cheap beer out there. You can tell that some thought went into the brewing. About twice a year i get a craving for this delite and the next day i swear off it until my body forgets the pain. Best served in a small glass at an old, well worn bar full of great living Americans. (VFW or Legion works well)
kmweaver (2125), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Sep 22, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a bright, clear golden color; fluffy white head with decent retention and fine-bubbled lacing; solid-looking pour. Dry and crisp aroma, showing some mineral bitterness, crackers, and sweet fruity malts; very nicely dry overall; crisp and clean. Very solid, well-carbonated, crisp and dry presence in the mouth: toasty malts, light fruitiness, and zesty, almost spicy, mineral hop bitterness; especially drinkable and crisp overall, this tastes more like a well-made pilsener than anything; both Ali and I really enjoyed this one. Even the alleged swill in MN is excellent. Medium finish: crisp overall, showing dry toasty malts, minerals, and just a touch of floral notes and sugar; again, nicely dry and crisp throughout. pj1855 (76), Eagan, Minnesota, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle. Sweet malty aroma. Taste matches the aroma. Very smooth. One of my favorite in this catergory. Great beer to drink around the campfire with smores. esjaygee (820), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Sep 18, 2008 Yellow with a medium white head. Aroma of corn and sweet malt. Taste of corn and sweet malt. Thin, watery, over carbonated, overly malted and astringent. Better than a miller or bud, but then isn’t everything. jebert (53), Watertown, Wisconsin, USA Sep 7, 2008 Beer pours a beautiful sparkling golden color capped by a generous white foamy head. Nose is mostly grain and alcohol. Fairly creamy mouthfeel with good carbonation. Taste is of grain with a clean crisp finish. A nice everyday lager that pairs well with a wide variety of foods, including summer sausage, cheese and crackers, burgers, brats or pizza. An icon in MN and pockets of WI. BeerBelcher (750), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Sep 6, 2008 Not bad. Not tremendously different from other American lagers I’m familiar with, but this beer offers an exceptionally clean (probably means tasteless) taste, and a clean (but not really watery) mouthfeel. It comes in a clear bottle, but is definitely not skunky. Appearance is yellow, brilliant, and fizzy, with a think and soapy head. Not bad.
