JMFG (1086), Florida, USA Jul 16, 2008 Very dark brown pour with virtually no head. Nice light peaty tones and some fresh cut wood. A hint of smoke. Taste has some identifiable peat notes over candied malts with a fruity character present. Real nice, could’ve been a bit thicker for a Scotch ale.
Beershine (1207), Miami Beach, Florida, USA Aug 20, 2008 At Vero. Dark, muddled brown. No head. Prune liquer, triple burnt caramel. Smokey, sweet, quite nice. Soft, low carbonation, peat. A little syrupy but a nice mix of flavors. smith4498 (332), Miami, Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 Bottle courtesy of JMFG. Pours brown with tan head. Aromas roasted malts, dark fruits and some smokiness. Flavor is similar to the aromas. Meduim/full body with minimal carbonation and a smooth mouthfeel. mgumby10 (1624), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Courtesy JMFG. Pours a pitch black, with not much of a head. Smells of some dark fruits, dark malts, figs, molasses, with maybe a touch of some smoke as well. Theflavor had a little of that smoke in it, lots of a dark fruit base, and some light vanilla as well. Got some bitter burnt malt in the finish which left bitterness on the palate. Decent scotch ale, but nothing to write home about. mcbackus (621), Merritt Island, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 bottle from someone at the vero throwdown: pours a very flat cola brown colour with no head. aroma is slight smokey with a good caramel malt nice aroma. flavour is smokey with a good burnt malt slight grain flavour too, finishes nice and dry.
