Taster at Flossmoor. Ah, brief impressions: very well smoked, but a little more gentle in character. Deep brown pour. Despite its smokiness, there’s also a good feel for Scotch malts inside.

Bottle from Liquor Max in Loveland, CO. Pours dark brown with garnet aspects. Not much head. Rich malty aroma that seems to have chocolate accompaniment. Body is thinner than expected. Carbonation is minimal. Flavor is malty, smoky, coffee, chocolate and dark fruits. Despite expectations it is not all that sweet and the finish is neutral, perhaps toward astringent. The darker flavors tend to build interestingly.

(Bottle, thanks to omhper) Pours dark brown with red hints. The aroma is light burned and smoky with undertones of coffee, raisins and salt liquorice. Quite malty. The flavour is light burned and smoky with milder notes of raisins, caramel and chocolate. Medium sweet and light bitter. The mouthfeel is soft and clean with a light carbonation. Medium bodied.

Dark brown. Chewy, chocolatey, with really not much peat. Some peat, chocolate. Soft, oily body. Fairly peaty finish with some astringency.

All in all a nice scotch ale. Reddish dark brown color with a minimal head. Sweet and smoky in the smell. Taste is smoky, toasted caramel, dried fruits. Light on the tongue given the 8%. Good overall.

At Vero. Dark, muddled brown. No head. Prune liquer, triple burnt caramel. Smokey, sweet, quite nice. Soft, low carbonation, peat. A little syrupy but a nice mix of flavors.
