The Dan Journal #279. Tasted 8/17/09. 22oz bomber. Mildly hazy with an amber hue. Off-white thin ring of head. Bright nose with notes of caramel and grapefruit. Touch resinous. Medium bodied with a smooth, malt driven character. Mild hop flavor and mild bitterness with a sticky finish. Decent at best.

22 oz. bottle. Pours a lasting white head, with attractive lacing, over a dark golden (SRM 15-16) slightly cloudy body...nose is pineapple, pine, toffee.....taste is initially mild sweet caramel malts then mild hop bitterness....mouth feel is light and slightly Rocky Mountain watery, carbonation is light and adds to the experience. This is a somewhat lightly done IPA. The balance is there, but it is lighter than many, and if it was a bit more "Noble Hop" ( think Golding, Fuggles) in character, it would meet the English style IPA.

Bottle. Moderate malt and hop aromas of roasted, caramel and pine, light soap for the yeast, with hints of date, toffee and pepper. Head is small, wispy withsome larger bubbles, with fair lacing and is almost fully diminishing. Color is hazy orange/red. Flavor starts moderately sweet and lightly acidic, then finishes lightly acidic and moderately bitter. Palate is mediem, oily with a soft carbonation. All the things that belong in an IPA are found in this beer. Nothing outstanding, but a solid representation.
