Pour is murky brown, lighter chocolate brown with only a few soapy tannish bubbles for a head. Aroma is really big resiney pine hops some caramel malt behind that. Taste is brown sugar, bright pine hoppy, really not much melding together. Ok flavor with the hops, but not really any balancing. Palate is medium, maybe on the thin side for a Barley Wine. Some residual alcohol heat. Thanks for sharing Eugene. lb4lb (2011), Austin, Texas, USA
| 2.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 4/10 | 3/5 | 8/20 | May 13, 2009 Bottle from rsquared618. Pours slightly hazy amber with light whitish head. Smell is perfumy and sweet and alcoholic with a light hop scent. Taste is dull cardboard malt and very light hops, but a lingering alcoholic flavor and some bitterness. Tastes a bit lifeless and boring, but not too offensive aside from the slightly alcoholic flavor. Below average barley wine. Medium to watery body and lifeless mouthfeel with soft carbonation. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Mar 12, 2009 12 ounce bottle from Crossling. Pours a dark candy apple red with a bit of sticky beige head. The nose leaves a bit to be desired. Alcohol vapors, a bit of toasted malts, chewy toffee, and some caramelized fruit, but all very underwhelming. The flavor is pretty well balanced and, well, mellow. Sweet and chewy malts of the bat the transition into a piny bitter hop finish. Its tasty, but not awe inspiring. Medium body with medium/light carbonation. The palate is easy to drink, but still substantial. Super Chicken is an alright beer. I wouldn’t seek it out, but I’d certainly drink it again. Leads into a mess of a flavor. Nothing distinct but sweet poop. Incredibly thin-bodied, and this is hot. Bads outweigh the goods. MrBendo (1043), Swedesboro, New Jersey, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Thanks to mj for the bottle, 12oz. Slightly hazy copper color with a smallish head. Aroma of caramel, earth and candied oranges. Alcohol is well covered, but the dirty-earthy taste is a distraction to the enjoyment. A bit of metal in the finish. brokephibroke (142), Mead, Colorado, USA
