| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 30, 2009 12oz silkscreened bottle $4.29. Dark, ruby red with a sticky yet minimal off-white head. It smells like hops and cherries soaked in alcohol, maybe a little too much alcohol. Body is kind of thin and the flavor is sparse but does taste like dark fruit. Alcohol is immediately warming and noticeable. I’m a little let down by this beer to be honest. Its not bad, just a very average barleywine and I had trouble finishing the glass, ended up pouring out the last four ounces because it was a chore to drink.

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jan 24, 2009 Bottled. Poured near-clear milky golden with a faint dusting of toffee-colored head. The aroma picked up aged caramel, spiked toffee, and a heavy darker fruit contingent with sweeter, lighter fruit underpinnings.. some decent components, but only decently put together. The flavor opened with some fruity sourness that carried through the finish (and was in cahoots with the prickly alcohol).. mostly caramel core with a bouquet of fruits at the core.. finished warm with lots of residual sugar and some booze. Heavier-bodied with low carbonation on the palate.. never felt poor on the palate, nor did it feel great. mgumby10 (1858), Jupiter, Florida, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 12, 2008 Courtesy hopscotch. Pours clear, nice looking amber red, with a small swirly of white head. Really sweet, fruity notes up front, lots of berries and woodsy esters in there. Almost a touch too much. The flavor is also more on the sweet side for barleywines and lacking bitterness. Not much of a hop profile at all. Alcohol is masked by the sweetness I think as well. A touch sweter than I prefer, but the flavor isdefinitely there.
