Ending the beer tasting, my perception was a bit off but I definatly picked up on some toffee and caramel on the nose and I remember it was smooth

Sampled at Dickinsonbeer’s NJ January gathering. garnet brown mostly clear color, light tan foamy head. bourbon-like alcohol aroma. flavor is some bourbon, syrupy malt like a barley wine, slightly hoppy finish.

Pours with a dark brown-red body topped by a thin head with little lacing. It’s sweet and malty yet hoppy with a slight grapefruit note and a touch of alcohol. Full bodied, warming and smooth.

22oz. bomber. Clear copper color with a small off white head. Sweet malty aroma with some caramel and alcohol. Alcohol hits you pretty good on first sip, then comes the caramel malt followed by just a hint of hop bitterness. I like my barleywines on the malty side and this certainly fit the bill.

I forget who brought this to the January gathering, but thanks. Poured a murky brown with a small off-white head. Aroma is sweet vinous fruit and cinnamon with some bubble gum characteristics. Taste is sweet caramel, a strong alcohol presence, some yeasty grittiness to it. Not half bad for a bw I’ve never heard of with such a ridiculous name.

Old notes from a tasting late last year, and re-evaluated early December at Pizza Port Strong Ale Fest. Copper brown pour. Big sweet caramelly malt aroma with some hop. More sweet caramel malty flavors, with some citrusy fruit touches and hops and some molasses even, and a bitter hop bite to finish. Very nice.

Copper color with a hint of rudy when held to the light. Small lid of dark cream colored bubbles. Minty hops and caramel aromas. Lots of full and sweet malt flavors. Some mild fruit kicks in along with some warming as it sets. Mild and quaffable barleywine. I wouldn’t run from this one, but I wouldn’t chase it either. Thanks Matt.
