badnewsbeers (982), Grand Rapids, Michigan, USA Sep 26, 2006 silphium hit this one on the dot...the sample was hard enough to choke down...brown body with large beige head.....aroma of light roasted malt and nuts...flavor is a watered down version of the aroma, and is barely cognizable...thin palate...simply awful Silphium (2027), Lansing, Michigan, USA Sep 3, 2006 On tap at GRBC. Dick Cheney himself would blush at this beer’s lack of character and integrity. Translucent orange-brown body, thin buff head. Light nutty, toasty aroma. Bland, lifeless body with toast and light biscuit, and maybe a smidgen of chocolate. Strange watery, grainy finish. No palate development whatsoever. Served in a tulip glass, perhaps to give the impression this beer merits introspection. It’s quaffable, I must admit. It’s water.
