probstk (1005), Nepean, Ontario, Canada Nov 4, 2009 500 ml bottle from the brewery via my bro, served at cellar temperature in a tulip glass.
App.: Clear golden with a fair white foam.
Aroma: Burnt biscuit malt (odd), kinda sweet and corny, a touch of hay and grass.
Palate: Medium body, fairly sparse carbonation, kinda smooth.
Flav.: There’s an odd dusty, burnt kinda flavour, light malts, a touch of hay and grass, a light floral honey note; dry and watery with very little bitterness.
This was a very unexpected disappointment. Grand River’s brews are quite good on the whole, but this one missed the mark somehow. Slacks (480), Bolton, Ontario, Canada Oct 18, 2009 Draught @ bar Volo, Toronto, ON: Pours straw coloured, no head at all. A somewhat unpleasant grassy, sour aroma had me wondering if I’d made the wrong selection. I did. Tastes like sweet grain with floral hops, but alongside a harsh metallic taste I’m not happy with. Reading through other reviews I can only assume I got the end of a keg beyond its best? Boutip (2330), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada Oct 15, 2009 Bottle: Poured a deep golden color pils with a large foamy head with OK retention and minimal lacing. Aroma of lightly sweet floral malt with light dry hops notes. Taste is also a nice mix between some floral malt and light subtle dry European hops. Body is slightly oily with good carbonation. Crispier hops would have improved this beer but very good nonetheless. bvc (227), Kenmore, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2009 500ml via Clint. Pours a clear light golden with little head. Grainy/grassy nose with some hay in there. Kind of flat on the palate. Lots of lemon and a touch of sweetness going on. Some grass and hay. Alright stuff, but not very much of a pils IMHO. riversideAK (2648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2009 Bottle provided by scrizz at his birthday event. Toby Gerhart is going to run for 300 yards. Nose is a little sweet and fruity, with some bread and lemony notes as well. Pale golden yellow, not a lot of foam. Very lemony. Underneath flavors include bread and some light earthy notes. Crisp, quenching finish with a little dryness. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2009 500 ml bottle - thanks clint!! Clear gold; aromas of honey, corn, malted wheat, touch of pepper; very light and soft; lemons and wheat; decent, but kind of boring after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Sep 26, 2009 500. thanks, scrizzz! pours a hazy light yellow with hanging carb and a light smear of gray film. lemony, grassy nose. fizzy medium body. lemon and grass mid palate. mild finish. garthicus (1215), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Aug 29, 2009 On tap at Beer Bistro.
