The beer is very bitter, ikely the most bitter beer I’ve ever tried. Yet despite this this beer is very drinkable, and is a great session beer. Of all the grand river beers I’ve tried (4), this is the best one. Though they are all very good. Great job on a great beer.

| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Bottle from the brewery, bottled Nov. 5th. It’s an amber brown colour with a thick, creamy half inch head. The aroma holds lots of malt with caramel, grain, biscuit and canned peaches. Mouthfeel is medium to full and a bit on the chewy side. There’s a fair bit of hop bitterness initially in the flavour with a solid malt backing. The hops are piney and fairly full with some more distant grassiness. Soft toffee follows with some grapefruit and plenty of black tea in the finish. Boutip (2399), Gatineau, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Nov 8, 2009 Bottle: Poured a deep amber color ale with a large foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of dry caramel malt with subtle grainy flavor. Taste is dryer then I had anticipated with good caramel malt and dry finish. Hops are not overly distinct and ester are somewhat lacking. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad overall but I would say that this was below average for this brewer. riversideAK (2792), Shoreline, Washington, USA
| 2.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Sep 26, 2009 Bottle from scrizz. Instead of us giving him beers for his birthdat, he gave them to us. It was almost a bizarro world tasting without the beer controller pouring my beer and telling me when to finish. Light buggy nose, some toffee/caramel, and some sharp fruity notes. Golden amber no real head. Somewhat tart with an earthy bitterness in the finish. I don’t get much else in this one. Not really my favorite. bvc (347), Kenmore, Washington, USA

| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 7, 2009 Draught @ Bar Volo: Pours copper in colour, little white head. Smells almost cheesy, weird. Tastes like red grapefruit and caramel malts, quite a bit of flavour to be had, most of it from hops. Ok.
