Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Jul 20, 2009 Bottled on 4/17/09. Poured clear, light-medium orange with a lovely cap of white head. The aroma was soft with lightly-toasted bready and pils malts accented by spicy floral and lemony hoppage.. a little weak, but quite pleasant. The flavor opened with tangy orange zest, rolling onto dry, toasted bread and grainy notes at the core.. a soft, subtle, slightly bitter bouquet of floral notes surrounded.. well-balanced on the tasty finish. Light-bodied, but with a more substantial feel than expected.. rolling carbonation.. very enjoyable stuff! Sammy (3934), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 25, 2008 Updated: Sep 16, 2009Good natural bitterness for a lager without hopping, above average mouthfeel. Slight slow gush, pours clear amber-gold, smallish frothy-fizzy white head. Floral aroma, light sweet timothy, very fresh. The taste is wildflowers and marigolds, a wonderful light toasted malt / floral bitterness balance - soft, chewy mouthfeel, decent carbonation, a light oily coating in the finish. Damn hell these guys make good beer! Thanks again, Jeff (growlers of this, you say? Hells YES!) Radek Kliber (3912), Toronto (Can) Krotoszyn (Pol), Ontario, Canada Oct 3, 2007 On tap at Volo
Appearance :Good deep dark amber gold colour with decent white head.3+ Nose :Clean aroma of quality malt , lighter presence of euro hops. Flavour/Palate : Medium full bodied . Well produced and exposed malt work . Full well rounded lager . Highly drinkable one of better for style. Light yet well noticed hops add to its greatness. Recommended brew.
jerc (3861), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 14, 2007 Draft @ Victory Cafe. Copper-amber body with a modest white head that is nicely foamy. (3+) Pleasant aroma with pleasant moderate hops and mild fruity notes. Hops are a type taht I can not quite place. Flavour is surprisingly fruity in alternating sips. Very nicely hopped, the hops are touch sharp at first sip but dissipates across the tongue leaving only about half that intensity in the finish and aftertaste. Pleasant, moderate bitterness throughout. (7+) Smooth average to medium palate (3+). Very drinkable, and repeatable. blankboy (3156), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Sep 11, 2007 Draught at the Victory Café. Pours a clear golden-orange with an average size diminishing white head. Aroma’s quite fruity with a nice amount of hops and caramel malt. Fruity, caramelly flavour along with hops (and again I’m pleasantly surprised by the amount of hops in this Lager) and a light bitter finish. Medium bodied. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did, another nice surprise from this brewery. Keep up the great work Grand River! DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Feb 19, 2008 Malty nose, dark amber, almost no head. Taste is candied malt, sweet, toasty, good. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Oct 24, 2008 In short: A tasty session lager. Well malted, well hopped but with a weird light acidic and comeback flavour. Good.
How: Bottle 500ml from matt7215, thanks a lot Matt. Consumed very fresh, bottling date October 01 2008, drank 13 days later (October 14 2008).
The look: Partly cloudy golden body topped by a medium off-white head
In long: Nose of a big rich citrusy hoppy lager. Ultra satisfying body, lots of crisp cereals and quite a bit of caramel for the style. Rich lager character. Hopping is citrusy with a hint of grapefruit and a light acidic touch (Syrian Golding?) and dry grass. Very mild bitterness head to head with the light acidity. Fruity caramel and earthy grass on the comeback. Something about the light acidity and the comeback didn’t sit well with me but overall this is a superior session lager. Finally a Town Hall I will gladly re-visit and not because of court citations.
