| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Aug 11, 2007 Updated: Sep 14, 2007Growler fresh from the brewery. The pour produces a deep gold-amber, clear lager with a massive tight-pored frothy cap which lasts and laces the glass.
Sturdy aromas of pale and toasted malt...some .light whisps of hay.
Medium body, hard mineral mouth feel, malty-hop forward character.
Rich malt mixture in the front gets balanced and lightly over taken by more aggressive bittering hops. Lightly dry finish...bready after taste.
A lighter ABV session lager from this brewer that has substantially more flavor than most light lagers.... it is somewhat better balanced than the Galt Knife lager and the hop astringency in the finish does not wipe out the malty after taste expected in a fresh lager. A well made malty summer lager and I like it better than the other GRB lager. It also has that signature sharp bite to it as other GRB brews but not as intense. Perhaps the local water is just too hard for a smooth soft lager....then again a lager with sharp "bite" to it is a pleasant change.

| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 26, 2007 growler from the brewery. pours golden with a small white head that dissapates quickly. tight strands of small bubbles float up from the sides of the glass. aromas are of caramel apples with some floral notes. sweet malty flavours dominate at first but give way to a nice hoppy bitter finish. im not usually a huge lager fan but this is another great lager from this brewer. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Dec 23, 2007 From a growler. (Thanks radiomgb). Copper orange with just a film of head. (Perhaps due to time spent in the growler). The aroma is of stale apple and fresh cut grass. The flavour is more malt than hops - the malt profile actually becomes quite nice as the beer warms. Nice bitter finish. As full-bodied a light lager as you’ll find. Very tasty and drinkable. Why don’t they bottle this stuff? JesseM (680), Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Canada
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 3/5 | 17/20 | Aug 9, 2007 Updated: Feb 14, 2009Growler straight from the brewery. Pours a deeper golden colour than most pale/premium lagers, with a large, fluffy white head that subsides quickly. The aroma is pretty enticing, very malty, decent hops (as should be expected from this brewery). The taste is very, very malty, but with some good hops blended to add balance. It is light, but for sure, still full of flavour. The malty flavours remind me of the intoxicating aroma of the mash boiling when you pass by this brewery while they’re making some new batches. Not quite as good as the Galt Knife Old Style Lager, but still a pretty impressive, enjoyable brew. EDIT: I’ve had this again and it seemed different than I remember. Slightly deeper copper in colour, sticky, rocky white head. For something at 3.9% abv, the alcohol still seems present? Maybe I drank it too fast. But it still has some nice tasty toasted malts in there. EDIT AGAIN!: Ok so every time I have this it’s different. This time it was much better, filled with delicious bready-malts, and a great little hop bite to add balance in the finish. Much better!
