Aroma is very malty, chocolatey and slightly roasty. Smells like ice cream malt quite a bit. Deep black with slight ruby hues and a thumb thick, but quickly fading tan head. Fore is burnt and bitter. Hops are very piney and strongly concentrated. Chocolate malt and cocoa through the middle and into the finish. Powdered ice cream malt lingers in the finish. IndianaRed (1560), Boise, Idaho, USA

Aroma of roasted/toasted malts and some coffee. Flavor is similar but a slight semisweet chocolate coming through as well. Rather full feel and nice going down. Maybe GT is getting it’s act together fnally with these special releases.

Pours deep dark brown with not much head at all. Aroma is chocolate, coffee, and a bit of pine hops. Nice smooth blend of flavor between coffee and chocolate with a nice bitter hop pine finish. Palate is medium bodied and quite drinkable not thick at all. Just drinkable and smooth on the palate. Very nice... oldrtybastrd (1801), Morlautern, Germany/Great Falls, Montana, USA

Mild cocoa nose, softer wintergreen or spearmint. Moderate cocoa tongue, but not as hearty as other examples. Body and mouthfeel are quite big however. Roasted malt and woody finish. Not so much a Baltic Porter, but a Porter none the less. Still enjoyable. Thanks for sharing Ken!

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 25, 2005 This beer was sampled at Pitonkatonks to celebrate the arrival of Facto, Buck Dich and Indiana Red. This beer pours a blackish color with no visible light entering through the beer. Medium tanned head with pretty good lacing levels. The aroma was of chocolate, cocoa, some hints of mint, oak, smoke and caramel. Flavor-wise this was medium to full-bodied with a smokey chocolate and cocoa character. A nice lingering finish with chocolatey and cocoa finishes coating the tongue. It really builds on that dark chocolate and coffeeish character after the sip. Light levels of carbonation, mildly silky in the mouth. Perhaps a little too smoky at times but good nonetheless. ontario102 (794), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 10, 2005 750 Bottle: Nice looking pour; not much lacing or beading, though; a bit of a plummy and fruity nose over a cocoa, espresso and roasted malt base, a tad vinous; the flavor is too roasty and stout-like (for the style), and the licorice contribution is rather heavy; the dark fruit/coffee/bittersweet chocolate character carries though from the aroma; spicy and earthy hopping is pretty evident providing not a small amount of late bitterness; acidic palate and slightly hotly alcoholic; this is good overall, but lacks some smoothness, cleanness, and malt complexity, and is maybe a tad overhopped for the style. I’m debating on whether this is worth (@$10) cellaring for another sampling next year. Alas, the master Bück Dich beat me rating this one first by minutes!
