Commercial Description:
This thick, rich, dark ale was brewed with a special German roasted malt which has had its husk removed, producing a very smooth, sweet flavor. We also used British crystal malt, which contributes some caramel flavor, and spiced the brew with Lublin hops from Poland. This strong beer boasts flavors of chocolate, coffee and licorice, and is best enjoyed in moderation paired with full-flavored grilled meats or with chocolate. 7.5% alcohol by volume

Poured like a lighter impy stout does. Mild aroma here, hints of vanilla, roast, and toffee. Similar flavor, but with some strength: roast, vanilla, butterscotch, and toast. Smooth and velvety, which makes it seem milder than it really is. Highly enjoyable.

Pours a nice dark, almost black, brown. Aromas of chocolate, espresso and a little licorice. Big flavor, chocolate, burnt coffee, with a nice little bite to it. I also love the wax dipped bottle.

1 ltr. swing-top 2005 bottle poured a very dark nearly opaque brownish black with a small lasting tan head. Aromas of mocha, dark chocolate, light licorice and a hint of smoke. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of roasted malt, mocha, bitter chocolae, hint of licorice and light smoke with a smooth lingering bittersweet finish.

Bottle. Nose-dusty, weird wet leaves and flat cola. Taste-light wood, medium sweetness, sticky, tea.

Courtesy of Indiana_Red <P> Aroma is very malty, chocolatey and slightly roasty. Smells like ice cream malt quite a bit. Deep black with slight ruby hues and a thumb thick, but quickly fading tan head. Fore is burnt and bitter. Hops are very piney and strongly concentrated. Chocolate malt and cocoa through the middle and into the finish. Powdered ice cream malt lingers in the finish.

2005: Pour is black with no head...nice roasty coffee nose with notes of cherry and grape...taste was just watery coffee and very roasty, with some bittersweet cocoa coming out in the finish...

Black pour with tan head. Sweet fruit and musty grapes on the nose. Taste was chocolaty espresso. A really good beer.
