Commercial Description:
Bitch Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our Bitch Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.

Bottle Poured mahogany with a thick white head. Aroma of hop and flowers. Malty with a good hoppy bite, Finish was metallic coming out of the kas, but once the beer warmed it turned to a lekker bitterness. Definitely worth a second look.

On tap at the Horse Brass pub in Portland, OR--Poured a deep, rich amber body with a medium off-white head. Thick, rich, syrupy caramel, hoppy, malty, complex sweet nose. Notes of sugar, flowers, and citrus honey. Bitter, sticky, rich, malty mouth presence. Finished well balanced malt-hops, and with a hint of molasses. Very good!

Syrupy amber red and a gorgeous cap of heavy tanned foam. Caramel, cracker and biscuit, iced tea malt aroma. Something spicy, but soft, maybe caraway, lingering. Heavy earth. Flavor is rich and malty, but for the most part can’t escape the acerbic, frontal bittersweetness of crystal malts. Rinds of citrusy hops bitter it up. Flaky pastry crust and dough with a touch of tart gains strength and provides body. Better. Firm bitterness, distant nuttiness, and a forceful citrusy sweetness puckering in the back. Body is medium to full, moderately carbonated, and overall surprising in its heaviness. Dirty, sweet honey and wild rice like earthiness in the finish. Sticky, and bitter. Optimal temp seems quite lower than I would expect, where without the warmth that cloying wink of crystal barely breaches the surface. Altogether, though, that malt character is just a bit off, and the vibe is more in the territory of a generic, well-hopped amber ale or extra pale as it just doesn’t have the depth or subtlety that the best, authentically English examples of the style offer. Flavorful and refreshing, though, at that right temp.

Bottle thanks to Douglas88! This is actually my first ESB. I didn’t know what to expect from this brewer, but it was a surprisingly good beer. It has quite a bit of character, nice malt and hops balance. Very drinkable and a good introduction into the ESBs.

Clear ruby umber color with a moderate dark beige head. A hoppy amber aroma. More specific, dark caramel, mild grapefruit, toffee, hints of light fruit and pine wood scents. Nice soft feel. Lots of malt in the front with caramel and pale floor malts. Light citrus and pine hops in the middle. Finish has some mild toffee and a light pepper burn. I think it’s more from the hops than the alcohol, but a fairly sharp bite in the finish and linger. I see this as being closer to an american amber, but a better than average american amber.

Brown with quickly dissipating tan head. Aroma of citrus hops, caramel and mild woodsy hops. Taste of citrus hops, grapefruit, caramel. Medium bitter finish. Decent ESB.

Nice brown color with a white head. Very hoppy, pine, slightly sweet molasses. Not quite as hop-filled as the aroma leads on. Light toasted, citrus, lemon, malts; tasty. Would drink more if I could.

pours ruby with a nice hoppy aroma. Flavor is toasty malt, citrusy hops, and a little caramel. Very pleasant.
