Nice coppery color and a subtle aroma waft up from the glass. Low head and moderate carbonation are to style. The bitterness is a little pronounced, even a little astringent. Pours a cloudy coppery brown with a very creamy one finger head that settles slowly to a thick cap, leaving behind a solid sheet of lace.
Smell; there’s a very nice piney hop aroma, with some light touches of citrus, and other fruits. A solid caramel malt is definitely there in the aroma.
Taste; this is definitely on the bitter side, but I don’t find it to be overwhelming. The hops lean towards the piney side wih only some hints of citrus. There’s a very nice biscuit and caramel malt backbone that off sets the bitterness very well. Mouthfeel is very rich and smooth, and very drinkable.
Thanks to bditty187 for this one, it’s just as good as you said it was. Spicy hop aroma is evident with initial hints of fruits. Smooth flavor, again with initial fruit taste, followed by the spicy hops and a lingering bitterness for the finish.. agl108 (509), Manayunk, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 14, 2006 Thanks to Jake for this. It poured medium brown with ruby hints. The aroma was caramel malty, vinous fruity, a bit nutty and brown sugary. The taste was caramel malty up front, with a pronounced vinous fruit flavor emerging, giving way to some nutty brown sugar notes at the finish. The whole thing went together quite nicely, with a solid complexity and balance. Cappadonna (104), Delray Beach, Florida, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 13, 2006 Pours copper brown with frothy white head. The aroma is surprisingly hoppy and not a whole lot else. The flavor is extremely well balanced- you get a good dose of both hoppy and malty characteristics. Starts sweet and quickly finishes with a lasting bitterness on the back of the tongue. Drinkable too.
