Pours a clear crimson color with an off white head and good lacing. Nice sweet malt nose with some citrus and fruit notes. Nice smooth balanced flavor with a nice hop bite in the finish. Well made beer. SledgeJr (2966), Omaha, Nebraska, USA

Pours a dark amber to light brown. The head is much thinner than the Teton amber. It is off white and whispy. Mild aroma. Chocolate and berries to the taste. This is not like an ESB at all, but is still quite good. There’s a lingering tartness at the finish. This is weird for an ESB. PorterPounder (3147), Tallahassee, Florida, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2006 Nice, deep, dark copper pour, faint, slighlty wispy white head. Green, earthy arom with faint frutiness - fresh nectarines perhaps. Flavor follows the same trend with some spearmint, nectarines, spruce and a hint of spice that is similar to cinnamon. Thick enough mouthfeel, overll a decent ESB. Lacking that subtle bitterness that I seek out though. Thanks to Aurelius for this one - partr of his Ale-in-the-mail shipmnt. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 17, 2006 The beer itself was a brilliant, clear ruby-brown with a spongy tan head. Fair cap, bad label, bad name. Western hop aroma over caramel and fruit in the templated APA/AESB style. Hoppy enough, but not ragged. Grapefruit, medium sweetness, grassy and green. Chalky medium body, finishes just like it tastes, but overall the palate I would rate as its best feature - smooth. Standard fare. Unless PorterPounder beats me to the punch with his half of the Ale-in-the-Mail selection, I shall be the 100th rater of this average fare. Odeed (1677), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 12, 2006 Dark ruby/brown color with a nice 1/2 inch tan head. Aroma is dates, caramel, a bit earthy. Taste is sweet, has a bit of caramel, slight hop background, a bit mettalic. Doesn’t seem much like a esb, but whatever. IrishBoy (2719), Bakersfield, California, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 23, 2006 Updated: Dec 10, 2006Thanks to Isaac for hauling this all the way back to Texas on a burro through sleet and tornadoes past bandidos and federales. Mohogany pour, thin head, woody nutty notes. Alcohol seems very up front, robust and sweet. Well balanced with a hint of citrus. Hoppy floral notes stretch the style parameters, but hey this is an American ESB.
