Commercial Description:
Bitch Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our Bitch Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.

Pours dark red with sandy head that thickens up nicely. Mild grainy/nutty aroma with little hop tone. Smotth light flavor and bitterness then lasting finish of light hops. Did not really strike me as an ESB; more of a red.

12 oz bottle, via Bück Dich. Pours a very dark ruby, much darker than I expected, with a small beige head that left nice lacing. Nice assertive hop nose over a sweet caramel malt base. Notes of iced tea. Moderate bitterness up front, but quite a good malt backbone balancing it out. The finish has good length and lightly bitter. Medium bodied with very good fine bubbled carbonation yielding an almost creamy texture. Usually a style reserved for an American Micro’s weakest offering, this has quite a bit more flavor than most available bottled ESBs. A nice surprise.

Nice dark copper brown ale with a thick light moka head. Light hops and caramel in aroma. In mouth, good resinous hops, with nutty malt and medium bodied. Very nice ESB, more on the nut brown, nd honest. Bottle is one yr old, from Degarth.

Clear, dark amber with a foamy tan head. Nice floral hop and toffee scent. Smooth, bitter pine hops yet sweet malts. chewy and rich, a nice mild bitter follow. I could (and would like to) drink this in mass quantities. Thank you Buckdich for this treat!

This is one of my favorites. I had this a couple years ago at a wedding in Sun Valley. I knew it was a good beer at the time but was surprised it was a ESB. I’m a hop head, loved it so was stoked to see it here on the eastern slope of the Rocky Mountains.

Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is dark reddish-amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain, caramel), moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit, resin), lightly yeasty (dough), with a note of dirt/mud. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter, husky. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, metallic. Poor mouthfeel (metal shavings, very watery), typical Grand Teton huskiness in the finish, harsh/rough in general, some unsavory notes in the nose...this just isn’t working for me at all. Looks nice though. Don’t understand how this has a 3.5 average.

Thin head, very fine. Body is a clear rusted brown. Light malty aroma with touches of butter and caramel. Taste is caramel, butter, light bittering hops. Finish brings out more of the bitterness and just a slight metallic taste, barely noticable. Texture is slightly oily. Simple, but decent.
