Commercial Description:
Bitch Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our Bitch Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.

This beer offers an aroma of hops with a hint of grapefruit mixed in. The color is between rose and earthly russet and produces a good thick white head. This beer is defiantly bitter as a healthy amount of hops wallop the tongue. The mouth is left with some bitterness and a mild tingle as this solution flows down the throat.

12 oz bottle: dark mahagony with a large ivory head. Earthy hop aroma with toffeeish malts and plum notes. The flavour has a very nice hop cone twang that merges nicely with the chewy malts. Long, even finish that makes this extremely drinkable and a solid session ale. A light sourness and bit of spiciness rounds it out nicely, well done.

Poured with a deep mahogany color and tan head that lasted a bit with some lace. Very complex nose with transient characteristic: perfumes, dates, raisens, spices, caramel, vanilla, fresh cut lumber. Very hoppy at first with just a hint of the mellowness of a nice English esb. More of an american IPA to me. Good beer, just not vey true to style. A beer of the month club bottle.

Pours a medium amber color. Aromas of caramel malt, hops, and a touch of citrus. Caramel sweetness in the taste with a good bitterness of hops.

Resiny pine, grapefruit and orange blossom hops with some cookie dough like yeast and caramel malt in the aroma. Clear copper coloured body is topped by a decent and lasting tan head. Caramel malt sweetness couples with orange, grapefruit, citrus, resiny hops with some suggestions of dark malts and moderate finishing bitterness. Medium light body with lively effervescence that is engaging on the tongue. Sampled at GABF 2005.

Malty, caramelly aroma, some earthy juicy fuggley hops. Heavy crystal malt flavor. Very sweet, with a lightly soapy hop flavor. Clean, moderate bitterness. A hint of alcohol. A little disjointed for true sessionability, but decent nonetheless.

Cloudy brown, hardly any head. Really nice aroma of caramel and maple, with a faint wineyness in the background. Full bodoed, piney, earthy bitterness balanced out with a caramel sweetness (that was my nickname when I played ABA basketball in the 70’s), Sticky, resiny finish. Tasty session brew. Thanks to Indana_Red for the trade!

(12 oz bottle: BevMo in Carmel Mountain/San Diego, CA) A good example of "generic, entry-level, micro-brewed beer", this golden ale is mildly flavorful, moderately sweet, mildly malty and minimally hoppy, but definitely lacking character or distinctiveness. The aroma shows some stinkiness, and well, not much else. Light to medium body, just kind of exists, failing to excite the palate. Light golden color with a slight haziness. Off-white head was small, despite a rather vigorous pour, and subsided to a very small rim, leaving only a few, minute patches of lace. Sadly, thanks to the shithead policy at Bevmo, I had to buy a six-pack of this stuff. Good for parties where the guests just grab a random beer out of the cooler.
