Commercial Description:
Bitch Creek perfectly balances big malt sweetness and robust hop flavor for a full bodied, satisfying mahogany ale. Like the stream for which it is named, our Bitch Creek ESB is full of character... Not for the timid.

(bottle) cloudy reddish brown with small off white head. Lots of suspended sediment, but no funny tastes really. Aroma of sweetish malt. Flavor is caramel malt, a little pine hops finish. Pretty good even though it was apparently inadvertently bottle conditioned or something.

Surprised by this beer, it was pretty good. Clean crisp flavor, dry and bitter on the pallette. finishes pretty clean. I’ll drink it again.

Draft at Nick’s Pub in St. Louis. Pours a nice brown amber with a big, uneven, creamy tan head. Aroma of hops, caramel, roast, dark fruits, toast, and nuts. Flavor of caramel roast, hops, nuts, biscuit, and dark fruits. The hop bitterness is gentle, so the caramel and nuts and other flavors really show nicely. Light-medium bodied, with great balance and average carbonation. Excellent take on the style- didn’t bore me like so many of the English ones.

Bottle (more than a few months old). Pours with a minimal off-white to tan head and a murky amber body. Head fades decently quickly. Some lace. Aroma of berries and caramel, with nuts, toffee, and muesli. Taste is pretty bitter up front with burnt caramel, berries, raw nut shells and a huskiness. Hop flavor is somewhat faded, but still plenty bitter upfront. Thin and the bubbles are a bit sharp.

Sampled at GABF 2009. Brownish orange pour. Grapefruit and brown sugar aroma. Cinnamon and floral hop flavor. Pretty good for an ESB.

Had on draft. Nice pour of dark copper and arrived at the table with a still ingering head. Aroma was mostly of malts. Taste was initially bitter with some doughy malts. Some hop spice was also present. Very drinkable.

Bottled. Copper/ Mahogany pour with tan head. Malty aromas with a hint of grapefruit. Hop and bitter finish. Not a bad brew.
