Commercial Description:
"...Was brewed to showcase yeast in the flavor of beer, and was brewed in strict adherence to the Reinheitsgebot. "Weizenbock means strong wheat beer. Wheat contributes a pleasant citric acidity and delicacy on the palate, and its surfet of protein creates a massive head. Howling Wolf was crafted with 40% wheat malt and minimally spiced with Liberty Hops. Like all Bavarian wheat beers, yeast is the star of this show."

Poured at GTBF. Murky tangerine pour with a solid vanilla head. Tons of banana, clove, and brown sugar. Honey-baked biscuit, yeast, and crushed wheat are present as well. Just a bit too sweet for me...cloying.

1 litre swing top bottle poured a clear orange amber with a lasting light amber head. Aromas of banana, carmel, dates, wheat, light pear and light spice. Palate was medium bodied and smooth. Flavors of banana, dates, carmel, wheat, spice and light pear with a smooth lingering spiced finish.

Bottle; these guys finally found it in their souls to not put wax on their swing-top bottles. Pours hazy orange with a large, frothy, off-white head, somewhat diminishing with fair lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, straw, caramel), light hop (herbs), average yeast (dough, horse blanket) with notes of clove, cooked banana, brown sugar, and vanilla. Full bodied, sticky texture, average carbonation, and an astringent finish. Long duration, moderate sweetness, acidity, and bitterness.

2009 1L bottle from BevMo San Jose! Beers 20th rating. Nose of banana, yeast, cloves, and some caramelized sugar.Hazy copper with a big beige head. Flavor is somewhat sweet bananas, cloves, a bitter hint, and a slightly sweet Belgian caramel finish. Excellent! Best new weizen bock I have had in a long time!

1 qt, 1.8 oz bottle with swing top (no wax YEA). Color is a hazy orange with some red tones. Carbonation is good producing a big frothy head that falls quickly. Aroma has a big yeast scent with sweet malt on the back. Taste is creamy and sweet. Starting with a medium body it goes down easy with a creamy feel. Finish is a sweet toasted taffy taste with big fruity yeast flavors of banana, apple and clove. After taste has a Belgian Ale like quality to it and a warm feel. Overall I like it, its bold and yeasty with sweet Belgian taste.

1 qt, 1.8 oz swingtop bottle. 2009 vintage. Smells Belgian or like a really great German wheat beer, but comes from Idaho! I taste a conglomeration of spices, though this beer adheres to the German Purity Law of 1516, containing only hops, malted barley, water, and yeast. There are so many different flavors in this complex beer, it’s hard to believe it only contains those four ingredients. Excellent!
