Commercial Description:
"...Was brewed to showcase yeast in the flavor of beer, and was brewed in strict adherence to the Reinheitsgebot. "Weizenbock means strong wheat beer. Wheat contributes a pleasant citric acidity and delicacy on the palate, and its surfet of protein creates a massive head. Howling Wolf was crafted with 40% wheat malt and minimally spiced with Liberty Hops. Like all Bavarian wheat beers, yeast is the star of this show."

16th rating for this beer. 1ltr swing top bottle. Dark copper pour with a small white head. Sweet malty aroma with a very slight funk, some sweet spice and a little banana. More sweetness in the flavor, an apple fruitiness, more banana and sweet spice.

Pours burnt apricot with a tall lasting head. Strong aromas of sweet tropicals and banana bread. Full nectar with creamy effers. Sweet, bready and malty with a touch of tropical zest. The finish is long with lingering sweetness. Very filling.

I thought this was absolutely one of the more fantastic example of the style that I have tried in years. The nose is strongly reminiscent of the same yeasty qualities that you get from a traditional hefeweizen, lots of cloves and banana, but than you get a second aroma of sweet candy sugars and caramel maltiness. Very warming on the palate with lots of sweet candied fruits and bubblegum, very full and filling, not a single tastebuds goes unoccupied with pleasure while drinking this one. In a blind testing one would never be able to tell this was an American Beer. Extremely well done.

One liter swingtop from Monument in Concord, CA. Pours a reddish apricot with large frothy off-white head. Aromas of fruit and spice. Full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavor is light stone fruit (lots of it), clove and spices, and yeast. It finishes more sweet than dry, but the yeast/spice is so strong it offsets the maltiness. Strange flavors toward the finish, ending in notes of banana. There’s a lot going on here. Words are inadequate. Try it.

2009 1L Bottle - Pours a deep orange with a large, fizzy off white head that lingers...aroma is candy, banana, apple and pear, with some dough as well...flavour is very sweet, nice spice profile, caramel candy, coriander and clove...nice bubbles and pleasant booziness...this smells and tastes like a sweets bakery...very interesting...

1ltr swing top bottle. Pours a hazy caramel color with a big beige head that left great lacing. Nose was fairly sweet with a touch of candy sugar, toffee and light hopes on the nose. Flavor was also quite sweet with light spice and a nice toffee sweetness.

Bottle from la bodega. Copper red with a fizzy tan head. Sweet malty fruit and apple aroma and taste. But too malty too sweet for my taste.
