Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

Sampled at Cellars Wine & Spirits in Shorewood via distributor’s sampler pack. Pours a semi-hazy orange amber colored brew with a thick off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring and excellent lacing. Aroma of mostly tangerine and grapefruit zest, a hint of caramel malt and a touch of tropical fruit. Taste is full bodied, a touch of white pepper with grapefruit and tangerine zest. Finish is semi-sweet with a strong tropical fruit than citrus aftertaste that is common to most other DIPAs. Alcohol is well hidden.

In the box from snojerk. Pour is murky and a dark red color. Sweetness in the aroma with some citrus and pine. The citrus is mostly grapefruit. A really fruity flavor at first. It surprised me a bit how much meaty citrus I got there. The finish is sticky pine and just a touch of fusel alcohol in there to remind you you are consuming alcohol.

Bottle. Pours a very pretty orange color with a thick beige head. Pine, resin, and grapefruit are all present in the nose. Taste isn’t as bold as the great color and aroma. Slight citrus with a mild malt body that fades into strong bitter hops. Good but needs balance. The flavors improve after the beer warms and opens up in the glass.

Bottle pours a hazy golden orange with a thin white head. Aroma is primarily tangerines and toffee with a slight grapefruit/orange kick. The pine is there, but not overly present. The flavor starts off sweet with a lot of mellow citrus, pineapple, and light carmel but finishes on a bitter pink grapefruit note. All in all a pleasant drinking dipa which covers it’s alc well, but nothing too spectacular outside of that respect.

Bottle poured a cloudy orange with a small lasting amber head. Aromas of pink grapefruit, orange, pine, tangerine, light earthiness and light carmel. Palate was medium bodied and amooth with a dry finish. Flavors of pink grapefruit, orange zest, pine and light carmel with a smooth dry lingering bitter citrus finish.

Great hoppy floral aroma that isn’t over bittered. The flavor is also excellent. Strong hop bitterness, bot in a good way. I enjoyed this beer and am surprised by the relatively low style score.

Pours a cloudy golden hue with a frothy slight off white head. Aromas of grapefruit, pine, citrus with a hint of sweetness. Mouth feel is medium bodied with a lingering finish. A little more full bodied and sweet for the style. Flavors of bubblegum, pineapple, a touch of orange peel, and again, a touch of caramel sweetness. A very mild bitterness, again for the style. Very one dimensional. Very disappointing.

Bottle with a nod to Wavers1. Pours like motor oil, but the color of a bad morning with the flu. Aroma isnt real heavy, but has some malt, citrus and pine notes. Taste is better though, a little resinous, some grapefruit flavored band-aids, some honey, and a noticeable alcohol bite. Could be better.
